I've moved many a times in my life.  My friends like to tease me and say that I have that process down so pat that I have my places redecorated and in move in condition before I remove my subjects (or conditions - for my neighbo(u)rs to the South :-)

So What makes this time different?  I have no idea where I'm moving to!  I've always thought that as Realtors we should periodically put our own homes on the market - just to remind ourselves what this whole process is like for our Buyers and Sellers.

We like to be Cavalier with phrases like "Buyer's Blues" and "Seller's Remorse".  And all I can say about THAT is that it is real!  It's especially real if you don't know where you're moving to - or - if you're not excited about the idea of moving!

I often like to say to my Clients and believe that - 'you'll know when it's the right one'......or 'all in good time'........'when the right house for you to buy is available........YOUR house will sell'!  Or "in 20 years.....I've never had a client not be able to find a home just right for them! But now it's time to put my money where my mouth is!

So now that my house is sold - I get to start all over again.  My kids are gone and its just me - so what shall 'me' be? :-)  Maybe I'll just be gypsy free!

Hi Liz... Are you considering a big relocation or just a local move?

I think you need to get excited about something, some place, before you can decide where you will park your caravan.  I would just rent for a little bit, until I knew that I will be happy 'here' ...or may be 'there' ... before I make a big commitment to a new place.  I don't think the place itself (the real estate) is as important as how happy you will be in a new location (whether rented or owned).
Whatever you decide, make sure you're happy, or will be happy 'there'.... or here. :)

Well, now that you're out in BC, there's lots of great places to go.

And, you should have a good time looking.

I've averaged an address a decade, I guess that's not bad... and I only want to move once more.  I have the house plan, but haven't found the spot yet.

Liz,

It seems that realtors and home builders are kind of a nomadic bunch.

Good Luck, Liz.  I have moved 6 times in the last 6 years.  My family has called me a gipsy.  Sometime it takes a while to find just the right fit.  I noticed you have changed companies as well.  Change is good.

Hey you can always become a Texan, we will call you neighbor, you'll have to drop the Ay and pick up the Y'all. Good luck with wherever you decide to land. I am confident you will do fine...In my book "freedom" is where it is at these days, and LESS is MORE....

We live in the 'friendly state' you know...

Liz, I don't have anymore of an idea of what you should do than I did when we talked about this on the phone.  And since that is the case, I would vote for you to rent awhile, until you figure it out.  Which I know you will. Or you could come to Seattle, we have a few hundred thousand homes for sale here.

List and Sell (and help out homeless Realtors ....  I hear there is an old Fort in Langley that you could probably borrow for a while)   Gary @ RentonHomeFinder.com

Liz, if you can do it, take a month to wander Australia, especially Melbourne. You'll feel at home, as well as a citizen of the world. I'd say try a home exchange, but, umm, you seem to be short on an item of exchange. HOWEVER, many home exchange companies also facilitate hospitality stays...a few nights with one family, a few in a hotel in a new location...etc. What a mind opener and a great way to make new friends around the world. GYPSY TIME! And, they're just heading into spring.

Hi Liz - it may be time for a condo in sunny south Florida...especially now that the weather is beginning to cool.  You can spend your winter seasons here and ponder your next destination while walking the sandy beaches and swimming in the gorgeous blue ocean on the Atlantic Coast.  Tropical, balmy breezes await you Liz

Eileen - like I mentioned in my email-unfortunately I'm not ready to retire yet! :)

Sherry - I absolutely love Australia - I lived there for a year in my twenties  - i'm  sure I left part of my heart there!  I'd like nothing better then to go there! And I do belong to a home exchange group - and got an invitation for an exchange to Brisbane just as I sold my house! Now what?

Liz - In the 14 yrs that hubby and I have been together, we have moved four times. As much as I don't like moving, it's a little therapeutic though. I get rid of so much "stuff" (mentally as well as physically). It's true that moving is a whole new start. Move on sweetie! :)
