I'm not sure why but I missed this movie when it was shown in theatres earlier this year. Fortunately I noticed it on HBO this weekend and had the opportunity of seeing it.

"Outrage" is a documentary about exposing hypocritical closeted politicians who vote against gay interests in an effort to hide their own homosexuality. Obviously everyone is entitled to their privacy, but in the words of Barney Frank: "There is a right to privacy, but not a right to hypocrisy."

Stewart,

it is very unfortunhate that we are still at a time in society when many people believe that they should remain in the closet.

But, ther the last 10 years.

The hypocrisy extends to all issues and it is a shame as it is part of the politician job description.

I'm not surprised.  I think our government has become riddled with hypocrisy.

Hi Stewart ~ I think it's very sad when people feel compelled to hide who they are but the fact that they're actively fighting against people's rights can't be overlooked. Just checked and it's not available On Demand unfortunately (which aggravates me enormously when they do this) so I'll watch for it on the schedule.

Hi Stewart. I have not seen that movie but am not surprised considering the rampant hypocrisy which extends beyond sexual orientation. ~ Lana

I'm not sure I would take my movie review from Barney Frank; however, it is an unfortunate that the stigma within the gay community continues.

I lived in Hawaii in the 70s and 80s  when the gay male movie stars used to go to Richard Chamberlains's beachside home * locals knew, we did not care and it was none of our business.  We still watched them on TV or the big screen.

I believe Clinton had a wonderful opportuity with the military policy on gays and blew it and we now need to make up that ground.

I think it's a terrible case of self-loathing. Too many people feel "guilt" or "shame" over private actions that they come out in force publicly. We see this with the bevy of politicians who are so in favor of "family values" (whatever that really means) then cheat on their wives.

I hope that we can get to a point where we are all valued for who we are....and hopefully we can help others see they are valued too.

Stewart..I saw this movie on HBO it was fantastic..I am all for Gay rights ..unfortunately I am in the minority and really get slammed when I voice my opinion.. I think it is sad that people should have to be ashamed of who they really are and be forced to live in the closet..

My only objection ..It really narrows down all the down all the sensitive single intelligent men ..LOL
