My owner is a Realtor with Century 21 Award in San Diego. The San Diego Port Commission is in charge of just about everything related to the San Diego waterfront.

That means that the Port Commission gets to decide on what public art is appropriate along the waterfront.

Sometimes they hit a home run, other times they strike out.

I'll let you decide on the newest crop of public art that has shown up on the waterfront. If the slide show here doesn't work on your computer, simply click on "View All Images" to watch it at slide.com.

You never know what will be viewed as "art" these days.

Hi Jim, familiar things with a different twist and presented in a public place.  I like it and I think a few of the pigeons do too! Thanks for sharing.

Jim,

That's some interesting art! Can't say I've seen anything like it before. Cool slide show, too.

Hey, Jim. Those are all great pieces. It looks like the birds really enjoy that one piece. Thanks, Jim

Hi, Jim:

I like the doggy weathervanes and the hummingbird mural. Some of the mobile sculptures are pretty, too. I am definitely bringing my camera to the convention.

Cheers,

Robin

Hey, Brian - So true. I think I could probably have done without the popcorn chicken "art."

Hey, Silvia - I'm not a fan of pigeons but Russel is. We had differing views of the pigeons roosting places. LOL

Hey, Carra - I will admit that the San Diego Port Commission never fails to exercise our minds when they bring in public art displays. The whole purpose of art is to get one thinking, and the art they bring in certainly does that.

Hey, Jim - Sometimes I think San Diego might be able to match Rome, Paris, London, and New York pigeon for pigeon.

Hey, Robin - You'll be able to take a nice stroll from the Convention Center north along the Embarcadero and see Tuna Port, the Midway, perhaps a cruise ship or two sitting downtown, all the public art, Seaport Village, planes flying so close to tall buildings that you'll wonder who the bright guy was that built the buildings next to the airport, or vice versa. Lot of ships in the Bay and lots of wildlife, too. For lots of fun, take the Seal Splash.
