My owner is a home inspector in San Diego.Zoey the Cool Cat likes to sleep upside down, and it doesn't matter whether she is in a chair, on the floor, on the bed....

When I go to the San Diego Zoo to see Zoey the Cool Cat's cousins, they usually are relaxing on a rock, or tree, or walking around staring at the people staring at them.

Over in the new Elephant Odyssey, though, there is a male and female mountain lion, and the cool thing about their new romper room is that you can now peer into their bedroom when they are asleep.

A recent trip found both mommy and daddy relaxing in the bedroom. Hmmmm. Wonder if they just finished..... Never mind.

I think Zoey the Cool Cat and Mommy Mountain Lion have the same upside-down gene:

And check out that paw!

ToulaRosebrock.comHi Russel:

At the zoo, I am partial to the big cats!

I can sit there for hours and watch them.

Nice pics Russel. The big cats are some of my favorites when I go to the zoo as well.

Doesn't it just make you want to tickle their tummy when they lay like that?  It doesn't look very comfortable.

Russel -- I love observing the big cats at the zoo.  My favorite is the black panthers because they remind me of my little black cat.

Russel,

Those are some big kitties.  They look like they'd let you cuddle up to them and scratch their ears.

Hi Russel - I just love kitties of all sizes.  I had a mountain lion encounter in the canyon when I was a kid.  She was as startled and scared as I was.  We both froze for a second, then she took off and then so did I!  I was only 6 and she was bigger than I.

Russel:  These are awesome creatures indeed.  You can see similar actions in the way our beloved furry critters walk, sit and even sleep.

Hey, Toula - Flamingos, meerkats, and the big cats are my favorites, perhaps because they have personalities. The polar bears, rhinos, giraffes, not so much, although I'm sure they do if one is the Zoo keeper and is around them eight hours a day.

Hey, Ian - I wish more people would post pictures from their Zoos, Aquariums, National Parks, National Forests, National Monuments, etc.

Hey, Irene - It doesn't look comfortable, and, yes, I would love to reach out and tickle that tummy.

Hey, Judy - We have a beautiful black panther here but it is very difficult to get good pictures of it. We do have a "backstage pass" that I plan on getting eventually because you get to visit the black panther close up and feed it.

Hey, Brian - And I would have no problem at all cuddling up to them and scratching their ears. Just ask Zoey the Cool Cat.

Hey, Susan - I used to do a lot of hiking in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and California hoping to meet some interesting creatures on the trails, but about all I ever encountered were foxes, coyotes, skunks, opossums, etc.

Hey, Chris - Thanks for the kind words, and for stopping by.

Hey, Bob and Carolin - You're welcome. See you soon over at your place.

Hey, Caren - I love kitty cat paws, of all sizes.

Hey, Joseph - In this case, I was maybe about 3.6 feet from them. The window into their bedroom allows you to get within inches, but my zoom lens needs 3.6 feet to focus properly. If I had my macro lens, I could have gotten a cool picture of the paw hairs from a couple of inches away.

Hey, Sallie - I was going to do a milestone post like so many people do, but I just zoomed right on by 500,000, so I missed the opportunity.

Hey, Chris - There's a special kitty cat gene, I think.

Hey, Terry - Zoey the Cool Cat is getting used to your hellos. If you haven't been by before the sun gets past the window, she gets upset.

Hey, Bill - Glad you enjoyed them. Thanks for stopping by, and I'll be over to visit you soon.
