Home Invasions                                                  San Antonio, Canyon Lake, Boerne, New Braunfels, Wimberly, Seguin, Blanco, San Marcos, Cibolo, Schertz

Have you noticed recently that home invasions are on the rise?

I believe it is the state of the economy.

                                                                                     What do you think?

Is it a stretch of bad luck?

Is it drug related?

Or is it just easier to take from someone and share the wealth?

Not only are they kicking in doors, but they are carrying weapons and innocent people are being injured or killed.

Please take steps to protect yourself & your family

1. Don't leave your garage door open

2. Make sure your home alarm is working properly, if not have it inspected.

3. Make arrangements with your neighbors to watch out for one another

4. Have the police department telephone number handy and programmed into your phone

5. If you have a dog he is your first line of defense. He will let you know if someone comes around.

6. Make sure you have good locks on your doors and windows

7. Be sensible. Don't take chances.

Be sure to inspect your home and stay safe.

Carl; This is great advice. We've had a rash of home invasion and assualts here in Des Moines. Hard to say the cause but the economy is a factor for sure.

Matt I also think it is the economy and drugs. Almost every day we hear something on the news about home invasions. This is happening in some very nice neighborhoods. Our son just had their car broken into at Cabella's, they took some nice items from the car and destroyed the interior.

It is amazing how hard times brings out the worst in some folks. Some think that it far easier to steal than to get an honest job...

Dale I think they use to just pick some folks from random but they are getting pretty smart these days. I see theyo are even robbing more banks, bisomesses and convenience stores along with home invasions.

Michael - Unfortunately not everyone things as we do; work is a bad word to some folks. It is easier to steal then to work for a living.

Prevention is the key to good health and being prepared and not taking chances is the key to safety.  Neighbors who watch out for eachother and take action by calling the police etc. can really help keep you and your home safe.  Good blog and a timely reminder with the holidays just ahead.

Thanks Ricki for stopping to comment. We should never let our guard down; there are many just waiting for the opportunity to take advantage of other people.

wow that's scary!  I hear it's bad news to put your home address into your GPS too, just in case someone steals your car.
