Okay...hype was high last year for The Cleveland Cavaliers to win the NBA Championship. We won't go into details as any Cleveland Cavaliers basketball fan is painfully aware of how last season ended. Just one 3-point by Delonte could have tipped the scales to have gotten us to the finals, along with several other unfortunate twists of fate. I know...I know...shoulda...coulda...woulda. If we only had: _____________ and we would have won. Personally, I think we would have been sledgehammered by the LA Lakers, but that is pure speculation and irrelevant.
So...what's a Cav's fan to do? We could punt and hope Josh Cribbs returns it -- okay, we won't talk about the pitiful Browns this year, but next year's draft is starting to shape up nicely if you know what I mean.
Anyway, King James contract only has one more season, so if the Cavs don't win a championship this year, rumors are running wild that King James will bolt to greener pastures. I'm not sure how much greener it could get for him when he has a local and loyal fan base beyond compare of any major city, he has more dollars than he will ever know how to manage, and he has a smart organization dedicated to bringing the trophy back to Cleveland.
So...with the addition of THE SHAQ this year and he stays health, and if Delonte's weapon charges and bi-polar disorder don't interfere with the season, and Mo doesn't cave under the post-season pressure, and JJ lives up to the huge promise we know he can deliver, and Andy doesn't get knocked down one too many times in the lane and can't get back up, and Z-man's ankles and feet hold up, and the Boopster (aka. Daniel Gibson -- who by the way...my son attended his basketball camp two years ago (when he was 7) and his shoe was untied and Boobie Gibson was standing in front of him and my son asked him if he would tie his shoes, and he did. My daughter, who is in love with Boobie because of his incredible smile that would make Tom Cruise jealous and his handsome good looks, about fainted when he told her that Boobie tied his shoes.
If everyone can gel this year, and become a cohesive unit, I think we have a shot at the championship.
If not, well...if you are familiar with Greater Cleveland Professionals Sports, you know how to take defeat -- it's a concept we are way too familiar with.
