Fall is in full swing (bloom) in Oakville.  Most of the colours have peaked.  The gusty winds have turned green lawns to yellow, red and orange as the leaves come tumbling down.  Our days are getting shorter.  Next weekend we set our clocks back.  Remember spring ahead - fall back.  Yes, you get an extra hour of sleep.

But what a pain having  to change every clock in the house, on the stove, the microwave, the radios, the cars, your watches. Luckily our computers, Blackberries, etc. are very smart and they do it automatically.   Don't forget  to change the batteries in the smoke detector.  Many are now hardwired so this ritual may  soon become a chore of the past.

This is a great time of year  to discover ravines and trails  in Halton Region.  Check out the Conservation Halton website for a list of local Conservation Areas.  With Halloween just around the corner a great source of information for local pumpkin patches, hay rides and corn mazes in the Oakville and Greater Toronto Area  is Pumpkin Patches And More.  This site also has great pumpkin recipes and tips on how to carve and decorate a pumpkin. The site also gives pumpkin patch locations for all areas of Canada and the United States.

Go out and have some fun this fall.

It's hard to decide whether spring or fall is the most awe-inspiring.  Summer and Winter have their virtues.  But neither can compete.

"Take a hike" is a wonderful way to enjoy these truly gorgeous fall colors!   I love the maples in my area, so many varying shades of red and gold.   Looks like you have some beautiful colors also!

Fall is coming along quite nicely across the Greater Toronto Area.

Unfortunately, not all devices are so smart since many devices were manufactured or designed prior to the new law which changed the daylight savings time switchover a few years ago.

Beautiful photos, Jenny.
Every time I have to change the clock, I get very depressed, because I know Winter is right around the corner.  It's going to be a long 6 months. :)

Hi Tim, it really is beautiful here in the fall.  I never enjoyed fall when I was younger but now I enjoy every season to the fullest.

Hi Rick - A hike??? OMG that was a marathon you ran.  Did you go for any touchdowns?

Hi Bob and Carolin - I'm glad you enjoyed them, and I'm glad you stopped by. :)

Hi Jim - You're right.  The only thing that saddens me about fall is that I know it will be a long time til it's hot again.  I like spring as it's like a rebirth.  Whatever that means.  Sounds good anyway.

Thanks Amy, I love your profile photo.  Very clever.  I'm glad I have my dog and she forces me to get out walking.

Hi Marc - the power went of in the house briefly today and now all my clocks are flashing.  Can you come and fix them please?

Hi Kris - Red is my favourite fall colour. I love the maples too. It seems to be predominantly yellow here right now.

Hi Sylvie - I think it seems long because it gets dark at 5 o'clock (starting next weekend).  I hate showing houses in the dark as I have a hard time looking for the address signs.  I often wonder how emergency vehicles find the houses they are looking for.

Hi Charles - So that's how you stay so trim, eh??

Hi Jennifer - Thanks and I know the colours are just as brilliant in your neck of the woods.

O.K John rub it in.  The bikinis I don't care about.  The sun and the sand.  Hmmm.  Well I just went to Cuba so I've had my fill at least until the snow flies.

Al & Peg - hi, what time were you thinking?  I have to do a cheque presentation thingy at the board at 12:45.  The Realtors Care Foundation gave Halton $8000. for 3 different charities.  We are going to present the money to the different reps from the Charities.  Having cake and a little photo op.  I'm good in the morning or probably after 2:30

Hi John today I took my dog to Mountsberg Conservation area and it was pretty chilly and windy, plus Halloween day.  We were the ONLY ones there.  My dog had a ball chasing rabbits and eating duck poop.  Great, eh?

Hi Connie Lou - two days ago the trees were stunning.  Then the gusty winds came and the trees are getting  pretty bare.  Sad.

Hi Myrl - I will be watching for your colorful tree photos.

O.K.Wanda you are welcome - Just don't ask me to sing alright?

Hi Caron - You will have to give us some hiking posts.  It is a great way to see new things you are right.

Hi Michael, I enjoy checking out the local scenery.  Since I started blogging, I always have my camera with me.

Thanks Steve, I'm glad I got out when I did.  We lost a lot of leaves due to gusty winds over the last two days.

Hi Mary I definitely noticed a lot of yellow this year.  I love the vibrant red colors the best.

Hi Silvia - but you get the Palm trees lucky you.  And all the great ocean birds.  You will have to drive north a bit to see the color firsthand.

Hi John, it was this time of year a couple of years ago when I was in Vegas for the NAR conference.  It was unseasonably warm there that year and they were keeping the outdoor hotel pools open longer than normal.  I sure enjoyed the heat during that trip.

Hi Marc well I guess I have to set them all back an hour tonight right?  The worst thing is having to do all the presets on the radio again after the power goes off.

Hi Rita, fall is your favorite season?  I do like it now but never did when I was younger.  Every season has its appeal I find.

Hi Debra - well you do know you will never see any mountains in my photos unless I'm on a road trip far away, like say Alaska?  I loved the movie the Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.  I keep thinking of the way she said A - Las - ka.

Well Russel tonight's the night we get that extra hour.  If not to sleep for however you wish to use it lol.  Am I not on that group?  Must go and check it out.

Hi Rita, you're right.  Fall is too short.  We have lost most of our leaves now.  I looked at the dark clouds today and thought it might snow but we got a bit of hail. It was 40 degrees so a bit mild for snow but I'm sure it will go down to freezing tonight.  Brrrr. You also have some great birds to photograph.

Hi Lana - you don't get the colors but I notice when I go to Florida in the fall the air does smell different.  So maybe you do have a bit of a change of season?  Plus it gets dark too early.  I would find that it would start to get cool around 4:30 and we'd have to leave the pool area.

Hi Gerry - I am so happy that you came along on the hike with me.  I took my little Lola for a long walk yesterday to a local Provincial park nearby.  I got a bit turned around and ended up walking for 2 hours, the last half hour or so in the rain.  It was fun though.

Hi Marney - Isn't it funny how everyone has a different opinion as to what they like in a photograph?  I was actually in a cemetery when I took the fence photo.  There were monuments closeby and then a drop down to the ravine and creek.  I think they had the fence there for safety.  I just liked the look of the black against the yellow.
