 Alaska wildlife

Alaskan wildlife

After spending hours viewing the glacier many passengers had just gone below for lunch or an afternoon nap.  Just as the ship was leaving Tracy Arm Fiord the Cruise Director invited us to come back up on the deck as the lookouts had spotted a brown bear, polar bear and a rather large eagle.  Later many of us had our pictures taken with the "wildlife celebs."

Mary,

It must have been amazing seeing the bald eagles in the wild.  I live just northeast of Houston, TX in Kingwood, and I occassionally see them flying around the Lake Houston area.  They are truly majestic.  Have a great week in the business.

Jeremy--Yes, it was.   In the northeast, Lake Erie, we have eagles but they are not very common.  They were so plentiful in Alaska.  Almost commonplace.

Mary, the Bald Eagles were great.  I used to see them in Wisconsin, they would swoop down over the Wisconsin river to catch fish...what a beautiful bird.

Nick--Yes, the eagles were everywhere.  The ones in the photo, via a telephoto lens,  that is the closest we got in the wild.  We did see others in a nature center.  We have them around here, but not too many.

Lee & Carol--Start planning your Alaska trip now and it will become a reality before you know it.  Earlier I enjoyed Lee's roadtrip trip with your son from the Northwest.  The desert & mts are other areas that I love to visit.  So many places/so little time & $$.

Irene--I had to read your comment twice to get the underlying meaning.  Glad they don't pray on us!  (sp error on purpose)  And I was so ready for a NAP---but glad I spotted the unique wildlife.  Bye.

June--Start planning your trip now.  You won't regret it.  Truly once in a 'lifetime trip.'  Meeting Heather was a great way to end the trip.

Hannah--Our next trip's criteria:  warm & sunny so a tropical beach sounds great!  Any good tips?

I'm so happy I was the first to receive an exclusive sneak-peek of these photos as well as a personalized tour through the rest of them.  I think it's great that the boat made it a point to make sure its passengers got to see the "Alaskan Wildlife" up close and personal-like.

Linda--Those "Big Bears" were scarey and love-able.  I wish I had had my camera, but they were just outside the dining room.  Give me a break.  At lunch time we are thinking of food not photo ops>  Mary

Hi Liz--I am glad you found them.  Guess it must be the time difference.  You are right about Alaska being a "cold cruise"  --not mentioned in the brochures.  I never wore my swim suit the entire trip.  We had a wonderful time despite the cool weather. Our trip of a life time.
