So you're getting ready to list your house on the market and your agent has told you that you need to purge and take out all of the items that you no longer use. Or maybe you are just after painting all of the interior and exterior of your house and given your yard a once over so that it is in prime condition for that open house. Perhaps you just bought a house and now you want to put your signature stamp on it by decorating it to your style.
I'm sure whatever the purpose is, if you have embarked on any type of household redecorating, purging or sprucing up, you will have many household hazardous waste products that will need to be correctly disposed of.
The problem is you really don't want to put them in the trash as you know that it will just add to the already stressed landfills and add more hazardous waste chemicals to the environment, polluting our streams, our water, air and soil.
So what do you do with it?
On November 14, 2009 The Brazos Valley Solid Waste Agency in partnership with the twin cities of Bryan and College Station are hosting their bi-annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection (HHW).
This is a really great event where, for free, households can bring hazardous waste products, that need to be correctly disposed of such as batteries, cleaners, aerosols, pesticides as well as a laundry list of other items. This event only takes place twice a year and it's on from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm at the University Services Building, located on Hwy 30 passed the Veterans Park on the left.
The following is a comprehensive, yet not complete list of acceptable items as posted on the City of Bryan, Texas web site.
Hope you all take advantage of this great opportunity to correctly dispose of all hazardous waste products. Maybe this would be a great time to get the garage cleaned out and perhaps all of the containers hidden under the kitchen sink!

They have a waste disposal a couple times a year over here at Canyon Lake and they always get a great turn out. They really need to have it more often so folks won't keep these items in the garage waiting for that day to come.
