Pine Knoll Shores on The Crystal Coast of North Carolina is a remarkable community located on the island of Bogue Banks.  Pine Knoll Shores is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the South and Bogue Sound to the North.  The Town of Pine Knoll Shores is situated on 2000 acres of The Roosevelt Natural Area.  To retain the natural beauty of the area and to provide protection from tropical storms, the town set up restrictions on the removal of vegetation and natural growth, making Pine Knoll Shores the beautiful retreat that it is today.

You will find people from all over the place in Pine Knoll Shores.  Many of the residents in Pine Knoll Shores started out as visitors and decided to make it their home.  The fact that you wake up and feel like you are on vacation might just be one reason so many decide to stay forever.  It might just be why everyone seems so happy too!  Pine Knoll Shores is a quiet community, but there is never a dull moment...unless you like it that way.  There is always something to do in the area from fishing, clamming, hiking, sailing, golfing, birdwatching, surfing, or just relaxing at the beach. 

The North Carolina Aquarium is located in Pine Knoll Shores and offers something for everyone. Hiking trails through the maritime forest, hands on horseshoe crab, shark and sea turtle exhibits, a 306,000 gallon Living Shipwreck tank, educational programs, a large gift shop and more.  They offer family memberships for just $50 per year, and you are invited to visit the aquarium as often as you like.  Membership also entitles you to a discount at the gift shop and other special events.

If golfing is your game, The Country Club of the Crystal Coast can be found on Oakleaf Drive in Pine Knoll Shores.  Along with a knowledgable and friendly staff, The Club offers an 18 Hole Championship Golf Course, Lessons & Clinics, swimming pool and sun deck, 4 Har-tru Tennis Courts and a clubhouse with lounge and pro shop built in 2007.  Sign up to play in one of the many golf or tennis tournaments the Country Club sponsors and support your community while you play. Enjoy fine dining at the club while taking in one of the most awesome views on the island.

If you want to do some shopping, Atlantic Beach to the East of Pine Knoll Shores is home to several surf shops; Bert's, AB Surfshop and Tony's. To the West in Emerald Isle, you'll find a variety of apparel, gift and specialty shops at Emerald Plantation including my favorite, Planet Wear, which carries Tie-dyes, jewelry, bags and lots of Grateful Dead items from lunchboxes to Dancing Bear Beanies. You will enjoy lots of other stores, ice cream shop, pizza parlor and movie theatre at Emerald Plantation.

There is a great selection of restaurants near Pine Knoll Shores.  The Clamdigger Inn, DJ Shooters, The Monkey Bar & Grill, Rucker Johns, and Tortugas...to name a few. If you're in the mood to cook your own dinner, stop by one of the many fresh seafood markets on the island, where you can buy locally caught seafood. 

Our pride and joy here in Pine Knoll Shores are our beautiful, clean beaches.  If you want to just chill out and soak up the sun, you will absolutely love the Crystal Coast Beaches. Stop by the Bogue Banks Library (right next door to Pine Knoll Shores Realty) in Pine Knoll Shores, meet Donna and Britta, Our favorite librarians, pick up a good book and head on out to the sand and surf. If they don't have the title you are looking for...they'll get it!

Pine Knoll Shores is located in the Morehead City School District, some of the best schools in the State of North Carolina, and just a 10 minute drive away. Crime is very low in Pine Knoll Shores, and we are very proud of Police Chief Joey Culpepper and our Police/Fire/EMS Crew. Stop by the Pine Knoll Shores Fire Dept. anytime with the kids. They have educational programs and materials to hand out on fire safety and they love to give tours and allow the children to hang out in the trucks...supervised, of course.
