The Ares 1-X test rocket launch was scrubbed at 11:30 AM.  The launch was scheduled for 8:00 AM and kept getting delayed due to weather issues.  NASA was awaiting clouds to clear in order to launch the rocket.  As it got later in the morning the winds starting picking up. At one point, when the weather cleared a cargo ship was out in the ocean in the launch zone, thus they could not proceed.

NASA will decide whether or not it will try to launch the rocket again tomorrow.

Footnote;  We took this photo this morning as we were crossing the Eau Gallie Causeway, about 30 minutes south of the Kennedy Space Center.

Sandy You are so lucky to be able to see this first hand. I'm sure it is a site to be scene!

Make this a great week,

Good afternoon Sandy, is there a webite that has the scheduled launch dates for various missions?  When visiting family in Melbourne Beach since I was a teen there have been a lot of launches that I witnessed and all of them with awe.  It's fascinating.

Sandy, It's a beautiful sunrise you caught.  I'll be listening to see if they will reschedule the launch for tomorrow....even watching it on tv is a sight!

Sandy, Thank you for the "firsthand" update and beautiful photo.  Do you ever go to launches?

Sandy, that sunrise photo is gorgeous, and it does look like a cloudy day - The reflection on the water is so peaceful, and a beautiful way to greet the morning.  I hope they can launch tomorrow!

Sandy - I watched the news to see if they would launch this morning as originally scheduled.  Alas, it wasn't to be.  I can only imagine what it would be to see a launch like that in person from your neck of the woods.  $400+ Million is certainly an expensive little rocket however!

Yes, but you had a great view.

Paul, We do feel very fortunate to be able to see all of the launches.  We try to catch every one we can.

Kevin, We are truly blessed to be so close to the launches. You know, as you said you have seen many of them. Here is a link to the Kennedy Space Center's website.  There is a link to launch dates.

Carole, The flight was a huge success the following day.  It is a sight to see.

Wendy, You're welcome.  Yes, I have been to a couple of launches over the years.  It is something you have to definitely plan ahead for, as people arrive hours ahead of time and then it is tough to get out of the space center later.  It's unbelievable to see a launch up close and personal. It's something you never, ever forget.

Mary, I drive my girls to school across the river each morning and I can't help but stop to grab a great shot.  This picture was taken out the car window driving 45 miles per hour.

Myrl, It really is a sight to see.  We are about 30-40 minutes from the Kennedy Space Center.  It is an incredibly expensive rocket for a 2 minute test flight.

Lou, It was a great view, shot or no shot. We are so lucky to live in Florida.

Caren, Success on the launch today.  It was a beautiful day for it.
