Calera Alabama moving forward

Few people know about the little town outside Birmingham, Al but it has a lot to offer. The roots go all the way back to 1821 when it was named Lime kiln, Lime City, or Lime Station. There are conflicting stories on the actual name. It is believed to be given the name Calera somewhere around 1869 according to old railroad schedules and post office records. Incorporation took place in 1887.

Since 2000 the population for the town has doubled from 3100 to over 6500 thanks to the city setting in place a growth plan. Current subdivisions and planned divisions will ultimately add 13,447 housing units to Calera. The good news is it is a great place to buy that first home, upgrade to a second home and if golf course living is for you, then a wonderful offering rests in Timberline. The bottom line is there is a home for every buyers need.

Schools are good, Great shopping is less than 10 minutes away, Lay lake and Lake Mitchell are less than an hour away and the mall is just a short 25 minute ride.

Calera is home to me and I would love to help you make it home for you.
