My owner is a home inspector in San Diego.I remember when I asked Kathy to our eighth grade prom. My wise old grandmother told me that I needed to buy a corsage. A cor-what?

A corsage.

I had no idea what a corsage was, and I wasn't thrilled about spending my hard-earned money on something that I didn't have a clue what it was or what it meant, Kathy notwithstanding.

Not to worry, though, because my wise old grandmother took care of everything. She said, "Don't worry. I know exactly what to get." Unfortunately, she didn't pay for it, though. Nonetheless....

For your enjoyment this morning, and to bring back some hopefully pleasant memories, is an orchid slide show.

OrchidIf my wise old grandmother had simply said, "You need to buy her an orchid," I would have understood. Of course, I would have bought her a living orchid that she could nurture, grow, and remember me always! LOL

I had the privilege a few months ago of helping Steve Hall with a Client who grew roses. Last week, I had the privilege of inspecting the home of a couple who specialized in growing orchids. I've never seen so many orchids in one place in my life, including the orchid shows.

If the slide show here doesn't work on your computer, simply click on "View All Images" to watch it at slide.com.

Hey, Roy - As always, thanks for stopping by.

Hey, Dorie - Kathy and I didn't work out, although we both graduated from the same high school and both went to Texas A&M University. She went to work for a biotechnology research firm, got married, and had two children when her husband died suddenly. The last I heard from her she had not remarried. I'm sure both of her children are grown and probably nice, upstanding Texas Aggies in their own right now.

When Kathy and I left to go to the Prom, "Hey Jude" by The Beatles was playing on the radio. That was my favorite Beatles song for many years. Now that I have a husband, I'm not prone to buy orchids for the ladies anymore, but that doesn't mean that I don't like them (orchids or the ladies -- LOL). I just wish I could grow orchids but they just don't cooperate with me, or perhaps I spend too much time Playing in the Rain with no time left over to grow them. LOL

Gret photos and bet they were even prettier in person. My sister-in-law grows orchids and has a structure in her backyard with them hanging all over. I will have to take the camera and get some photos! Thanks for sharing. Hope you are ok from your fall!

Good morning Russel, I love the slide show. At one time I had tons of indoor plants. Then life took over, kids, old colonial type New England homes that don't allow too much light in, or my excuse now for not having any? Cats plus, the curtains are drawn during the summer to keep out the heat, the winter to keep out the wind, LOL. My livingroom is rather like a cave at times! So, plants don't like that type of enviornment. Thank you, that was nice eye candy on this rainy cool NE type fall day!

Dear Russel, these vibrantly colored orchids gave me a pick me up instantly! They remind me of my trip to Hawaii, where these gorgeous flowers were everywhere, including in our hotel room! Thank you for the escape from reality!

Hey Russel-Thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures of the Orchid, considering that it is raining right now and the temp is a mere 50 degrees-you brightened my day.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. I love orchids. I have always been an anti cut-flowers girl. My husband knows he would be in the doghouse if he bought me a dozen roses! Orchids are the perfect solution. I enjoy them while there are in bloom, then my mother-in-law gets an addition to her orchid collection. She is amazing with orchids!

Russel,

Beautiful orchids! I absolutely love them. I think my corsage was a pink carnation. Not quite the same! It's snowing outside right now, so your beautiful photos really brightened my day, thanks!
