President Obama to meet Friday with Joint Chiefs

President Obama is adding another meeting to his Afghanistan troop decision process. Friday he will meet with the Joint Chiefs at the White House where he will get input from other service branches on the proceedings. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters traveling with the President aboard Air Force One that Mr. Obama's decision "will come in the coming weeks." Gibbs would not say if the meeting with the Joint Chiefs is one of the last pieces of the decision-making process but admitted "we're getting certainly toward the end of it."

It is my Hope and prayer that our President will make the decision to bring our troops home soon and safely.

No more troops to Afghanistan Mr. President. Enough lives have been sacrificied by our brave men and women. It is time to bring home our brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, family and friends.

Fernando,

Unfortunately you are most likely correct... But I will still pray that our young men and women in uniform return home soon and safe....

and continue to Write to the White House asking the President to NOT send more Troops and Bring our children Home....

Linda, I respect your view, but I think if you have that view you need to share your alternative to protect this nation from another day where I have to watch Americans jump off buildings to their certain death because their skin is starting to melt.

There are people who want to destroy us all simply because we are allowed to have your and my view, I don't like it, but they are the problem not us. In my nightly prayers for our troops I also pray for an end to terrorism. Thus far those prayers have not worked.

I know how you feel. We have a son who is scheduled to go. I have a friend who's son is a medic and going. We pray for them.

Don't pray that we don't send troops...pray that President Obama has the wisdom to know what to do for this country and the strength and conviction to make it happen.  President Obama has difficult decisions and it would seem that meeting with your Generals and Chiefs of Staff would have been a good start months ago, but he is doing that now so that's a positive.  Look, if there is an objective to being there, then by all means send the troops needed to accomplish those objectives.  If there is nothing there to accomplish and it is not a winnable campaign...get them out.  That is what we have to pray our President has the wisdom to know.

Linda Mae, what is going on in Afghanistan has little to do with security in this country.  We can battle the extremists there, declare victory, and the second we leave, they're back up and running.  Its just another Vietnam all over again.  Time to get out.  If the world wants to persue the issue, then let the world do the dirty work.

It's a tough decision.  One thing is for sure, the number of troops over there now isn't working.  Because of the nature of the terrain, more troops aren't necessarily the answer either.  I say bring them home.  We don't have the support of the Afghan people anyways.  The Taliban isn't doing anything to make the Afghan people want to get involved.  It's kind of difficult to get the Afghani's on our side when their countrymen aren't bothered much by the Taliban's activities.
