Makawao is such a sleepy little town.  We stopped there once and watched the glass blower at work.  Is he still there?  He did beautiful work. 

We like to stop in Makawao on the way to the Hui No'eau art center when we are in Maui in December.

I love Makawao.  Whenever I visit my brother who lives in Lahaina, I plan on a visit to Makawao.  If I remember correctly, there are a number of art galleries and studios in town.  One I enjoying going to is a glass blowing gallery, where you can watch the artists work with glass blowing, etc.  And, now that I glance up and read the comment above mine, I see that others enjoy that glassblower as well. ; )
