Hi Myrl,

Yes, it's that time of year again! I have my pumpkin so I think it's time to carve it tonight.  You got yours yet?

Hi Myrl - What a great shot right down to the dirt! We only get a small pumpkin and carve it in the traditional way :-)

Pat - I hope the photos brighten your day!

Michael - This field is in an area close to Sacramento known as Apple Hill.  For one reason or another, it did seem there were fewer pumpkins this year.

John - It has been exceptionally cold (and windy) here today. . .BUT still no frost on the pumpkins:-)

Scott - I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Mike - Happy Halloween to you too. . .I can't believe the year is this far gone already!

Steve - I have a lot of little pumpkins this year. . .I probably won't carve any of them!

John - I thought about rubbing the dirt off the pumpkins first, but that would have destroyed the "authenticity". . .LOL

Paul - Nothing says autumn like colorful leaves and pumpkins:-)

Sandy - I love John's pumpkin too!

Sharon - Me too. . .and how about a big pot of homemade soup on days like this.

Sharon - I suspect that Saturday morning will be busy up at the pumpkin patch.  Apple Hill continues to sell them in November however.  Folks buy them and may pumpkin pie.

Is that where the Great Pumpkin resides? How exciting! I don't carve pumpkins, but I do buy one each year, cut it open, clean it out, clean the seeds, count the seeds, send $1 for each seed to various charities, and donate the pumpkin to the neighborhood kids.

I love the color of orange. It's so cheerful and bright and happy. Did you know that the color orange is supposed to stimulate your appetite? That's why some designers paint dining rooms orange. It's also sort of a 1960's color.

You take such great photos, Myrl. You have a natural talent for photography.

P.S. Thanks for meeting up for lunch. Wish we had more time.

Kathy and Leilani - Nothing ushers in Autumn swifter than the color orange.

Carole - We've had storms.  We've had rain and wind; but we are woefully slow getting the pretty colored leaves.

Terry - I remember when I was a kid, I was always looking for the ultimate pumpkin carving tool.

Russel - I hadn't really searched for the Great Pumpkin Charile Brown the other day. . .But he may have been lurking there:-)

Janice - I'm glad you liked it!

Elizabeth - Boy is orange a 1970s color.  Remember those orange and yellow big flowers on the wallpaper?  I enjoyed having lunch with you too Elizabeth.  I couldn't have stayed any longer either.  I was parked in a 1 hour zone:-)

Pat - You'r very welcome. . .Thanks for visiting!

Myrl, there is something so bright and happy about the color orange - especially on pumpkins in the fields!  They are just beautiful.

Mary and Gerry - I agree there is something that changes dramatically in some fields between the month of September and October. . .And the color orange is key to the look, the feel, and the spirit that dwells there.
