New Mexico mesa

New Mexico mountains

When our friend Andrea came to visit from Italy, we drove to Santa Fe. On our last day there before heading back home to Texas, we visited the Puye cliff dwellings and drove around and through Chimayo. The amazing scenery made me think back to how when we crossed the state line, we had been chuckling at the license-plate motto: "New Mexico, Land of Enchantment."

Well, after a couple of days in New Mexico, I fell under its spell, too.

One year my husband and I drove miles and miles from San Antonio to Angel Fire, NM.  We spent some time in Santa Fe, too.  If we go again we will visit the Puye cliff dwellings.  It sounds interesting.

Robin, Thank you for sharing those great shots of the New Mexico landscape. Some of the bluffs are similar to Utah's.

It's impossible for a photo to convey the splendor of these rock formations. I need a 3-D camera!

Robin - I drove to destinations along Utah's Highway 12 that appear similar to your scenes.  My next trip will be to Santa Fe and the Four Corners area.  There is something so hauntingly beautiful about the rock formations in places depicted in your photos. . .Wonderful pictures!

I had the same chuckle when I first drove from Houston to New Mexico and, like you, soon fell in love with it. I think it's a hidden gem among the states.

Best wishes!
