Not a bad idea to check out your area and see just who is living in your neighborhood...

Do you know your neighbors? I mean REALLY know your neighbors?

I'm blessed to live in a wonderful community that is postcard pretty, peaceful and relatively safe. That being said, there are criminals amongst us, no matter where we live. People who have, and would, do harm to us and ours. Are you safe? You have a right to know.

Life would be good if the dangerous and unsavory characters were readily apparent, if something about them that made it obvious to us that danger was present so we would know to keep our distance and keep our guard up.

That is not the reality, but there is a site we can go to that will pull up a map of our neighborhood with homes of felons flagged. It's felonspy.com. Just enter your address and up pops your neighborhood map flagged with names, age of the felons and crimes committed. I pulled up my own rural neighborhood and was surprised by the close proximity of 5 men from 22 to 45 who had been convicted of: attempted rape, 1st degree unlawful imprisonment, attempted sexual conduct with a child, and two convicted of aggravated sexual abuse.

Sharon - That's great information with a great link. Although felons and perpetrators are just about everywhere, information is key!

the strange thing about that website though is that every time you click search on the same address it gives you completely different results..hmm not sure how accurate the info is?

Lina: I don't like the sound of that! I will give it a try and see if my "felons" change.

Hi, Sharon. I didn't know about this. I knew you could search a database for convicted sex offenders in a particular neighborhood but this is really valuable. I want to give it a try right now!

I myself failed a felony background check when I tried to register my TASER...turns out that my address was just so new at the time that it wouldn't geocode...whew! (LOL!)

Leslie: Oh sure, the "my address is so new" defense! That is what all the felons say!

Steve: I wonder how many buyers use a site like this to investigate neighborhoods they are considering moving into. It is certainly great info to have.
