The following photos were taken in Red Lodge at sunrise on October 21, 2009.

I was a foggy morning.  I took the time to stare at the morning sky and enjoy this unusual curtain effect.

Sunrise on a Foggy Morning in Red Lodge - October 2009

The sun took a little longer to makes it appearance but I was in no hurry.  I stood there and waited to see what other surprise Mother Nature had in store that morning.  A few moments later, I was rewarded for my patience and was able to capture this beautiful view of the sun peaking over the fog curtain (the fog completely disappeared a few hours later and it was a nice and sunny day in Red Lodge).

Marc,

I will do my best but I am not sure what is the best and least expensive way to do so.  You can check out the Red Lodge webcams and have them projected on a big screen at your place it that would help.

Stunning shots Gerry. Very peaceful and beautiful. I love how the sun is coming over clouds in the last one.

Gerry,

Great idea to use the fog blanket to showcase the sunrise. Very nice done. Good exposure. :)

Steve,

Thank you for positive feedback.   Unlike a regular sunrise, I had no idea when the sun what going to rise above the fog.   I was at the right time and place (from inside a car which I safely stopped) to capture this one.

Oooooooooh, I love it. Love it, love it, love it. That would have to be one of our sunsets because we don't get enough clouds or fog in the east for a sunrise.

Lisa,

You are welcome.   Beautiful sunrise and sunsets are there almost every day.  When we take the time to enjoy them, it makes us feel good and makes our day better.  I am glad I captured a few to share with the online community.

Russel,

It is an unusual type of sunrise but yes, it was one that was experienced in the West.  I am glad you loved it.
