CHANGING OUT THE SINK - INEXPENSIVE & DRAMATIC CHANGE

By

We recently consulted with some clients that had a very challenging master bath.  For some reason, when they were refurbishing this house, they were limited in that they were not allowed to change the footprint of the existing house.  So since they couldn't build out, this 1/2 bath is the master, like it or not since it was in the master bedroom.

They decided to dress up this space by using an expensive, oversized sink.  I told them they should take their sink with them to their next home and trade it out for a simple, clean lined, clear sink.

I think it made a world of difference and the cost for this was $99 for the sink, and $50 for the plumber to change it out.  What do you think, was it worth it?

Before - the sink dominated the space and looked out of place:

before sink make over

Changing out the sink opened up the space and gave more of a balanced look.

Melody -- I think changing out the sink was definitely worth it...the whole bathroom now looks sophisticated.  I like the clear sink so much better.  I think buyers will also as the first one, though pretty, was too taste specific.  I am glad those homeowners took your sage advice.

Great decision - The first sink looks too big and awkward. Your choice looks sleek and classy! Good work!

Definitely worth it!  The new sink looks more modern and would appeal to more buyers.

Absolutely better!  That other sink was really too big for that room.  Great way to convince them--"You can take it to your next house!"

Melody, I think that the new sink is better when it comes to selling the house and trying to appeal to a variety of people. The original sink looks quite interesting and sellers may have tried to add character to this small master bathroom by installing it, but it is somewhat out of proportion and the buyers would have a difficult time seeing past it.  I think that's a great suggestion to ask homeowners to take it with them to their new home.

Much better, the original sink was too bulky and buyer specific in style.  The clear glass looks very elegant.

Melody--Wow! At first when I saw the old sink, I thought that the bathroom was in the middle of a renovation and that the sink was in wrapping/packaging paper. I had to take a closer look to see that it was an actual sink. Then I saw the new sink~~what a fabulous change! The whole bathroom looks more modern, more sleek because of that sink. Good job!
