H1N1 Vaccinations

With clinics across the country opening up for the H1N1 flu shot Durham Region Health Department has opened 5 locations across the region where you can go to receive the H1N1 Vaccine.

Be prepared to wait

This is what the lineup was like at about 5:30 pm today (it was much longer around 2:30pm) in Uxbridge.

H1N1 Line Up

The Uxbridge Clinic is Located at 2 Douglas Rd., Uxbridge
(formerly Williamson's)

H1N1 Line Up

With the vaccine shipments being delivered over time a priority list is being followed for those wishing to recieve the shots.

People with chronic medical conditions
Pregnant women with chronic medical conditions or who are over 20 weeks
Healthy children ages 6 months to 5 years
Persons living in remote or isolated communities
Health care workers, and houshold contacts or care providers of persons of high risk who cannot be immunized.
After the targeted groups have been immunized the clinics will be open to all Durham residents

Clinic hours are Oct 28th to November 28th Monday to Friday from 2 pm to 8 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm.

The following clinics are wheelchair accessible and are open for walk-ins as appointments are not necessary.

You are asked to to bring your OHIP card or drivers licence for identification purposes.

Wow Kathy, busiest 'flu" season we have seen. We heard a rumour and so far that is all we know is that it is a rumour, but have you heard anything about being denied access to the United States if you have not had the vaccine?

And if those line ups aren't bad enough, if you call Telehealth and you want to speak with a nurse, the waiting time is approximately 7 hours right now. :/

This is a bit out of control.... you would think this would be more 'orderly' and without such line-ups. I guess people just aren't willing to wait their turn and want it now.

Kathy - it's just as bad here in Victoria - long lineups, but it sounds like there are still lots of people "just waiting to see how it goes ..."

Wow, that first picture says enough. The H1N1 vaccine supply is gone before it arrives here as well. If you make an appointment the doctors are out before you get there.

Al and Peggy - Not as of right now ... a little incentive to get some fence sitters out for a shot if they plan to travel

Sylvie - Some people were still inside waiting when I drove by after 9:00pm

David - I hear there is some controversy about getting the shot.

Kryste - I don't think it was a matter of running out of the shot ... just a long line waiting to get it

Kathy - We have had many clinic in our are run out of vaccine half way thru the day and some have been cancelled. Now they have announced only those between the ages of 2 and 24 years can even get the vaccine. Scary times indeed

It's important to get the shot.

Hopefully, the lineups will decrease in a few days.

Laura - Hopefully that will change soon and there will be enough to go around for those who want to get the shot

Brian - I expect you are correct ... the clinics will be open for a month (more or less depending on demand)

The vaccine seems to be slow to trickle into certain parts of the nation. . .I'm in the age group that will likely not need it as badly as the younger set. I hope those that need it and want it are able to readily get it in time to prevent contracting H1N1

Myrl - Additional steps are being taken - we were in a health products supplier outlet the other day and you could not go past the entry until you had used the hand sanitizer and signed in
