I was blessed with the lovely gift of Butterflies in my garden today. The sun came out and my yard became alive with butterflies in the very colors of our season! I just wanted to share these lovely creatures with you in the spirit of they were received. They brought me a great deal of joy and I hope they will for you too. Huntsville Texas has its charms and this is one of the best! Oh yes, and Happy Halloween!!!!!!

Nice butterfly pics. I do like shooting butterflies. They are so hard to capture but so rewarding when you do...

Deb...nice photography of the unscathed as well as the scathed specimens.  The later look like survivors of a long wind-blown migration, which can really batter the wings.

You have photographed GULF FRITILLARYs which are beautifully common in your area.  Yes, I am of an entomologic background (22 years as a Professor at Michigan State U) but I had to Google "Common Butterflies Texas" to get an answer for your photos!  Guess What?

Up popped a Rainmakers Blog Post with the answer and more info about them that will give you good info to chat about the next time someone visits!

Cheers to all from the BUGMAN in Paradise!

Hi Deb,

Those are great pics! And the slideshow is really cool. I'm glad you received the "gift". I would have to say that it was way more of a Treat than a trick. Great pumkin and fall colors. Thank you for sharing. -S

I agree with Michael, tough to get usually, but very rewarding. My method; Take about 50 shots and get a few decent ones.

Dear Deb,

Lantana always seems to attract plenty of butterflys. These butterfly photos are beautiful. Keep them coming!

Hey Deb,

Butterflies are beautiful to capture on film. It's their insect bodies that creep me out! Ugh!
