Being a Mom lets me be a Realtor(R) too!

The power of being self-employed gave me the abundance of opportunity to take so much presence in my son's life. This morning, we have Halloween at school and I got to be there because I could determine my schedule.

Had I continue to work in my corporate job as Business Development/ Structural Engineer, I wouldn't be able to be there for my son. To watch him thrive and to celebrate how far he's come.

Every day, I take him to school at 9am and my life starts right after drop-off. I learnt to work very efficiently, making sure I take care of my clients' needs as well as marketing and growing my business. Time is very precious between those hours and work stops at 2pm when I pick him up at school. From 2:30pm until 6:30pm, our household is very busy; making sure we practise some writing, some reading and preparing for his dinner by 5pm.

I put my son to bed by 8pm and my 2nd half of my day begins at 8:30pm.

Being a mom definitely has challenges and sometimes it feels like trying to jump through hoops. But watching my son grow in every phase of his life is definitely something I want to be a big part of.

Being a realtor(R) gives me the opportunity to do that, as well as taking care of my clients' needs and I take growing my business as an awesome challenge to see how far I could go!

I just love what I do. Can you feel that?

Well...What a handsome young son you have there! It's great that you have prioritzed your life and your business and your son gets to reap the benefits!

Exactly how I feel Loreena! I get to spend so much time with Alex and love every minute of it! I love the flexibility I have to spend time with him.

Loreena: He is sooooo adorable! Thanks for sharing him with us. No matter what our schedules we can adjust it....especially with a big job like being a mom :)

When my children were young I was concerned the busy life of a Realtor® would be too hard, but I wish now that I had pursued this career back then.

It works both ways. As a father I do the same. At times I have take a kid with me to work. I always clear it with the client and they think its great.

For the very same reasons I became a Realtor after becoming a single Dad with custody of my 3 kids..sounds like we share the same type of schedule....lot of late nights around here

Loreena - we also love the flexibility of real estate. We still work a lot and work very hard but it's nice to be able to control your schedule when there's something important to attend. Looks like you and your son had a great time at the party.

I love how with the flexibility you mention Loreena you have developed the optimal work-home balance with your son. Very good for you. Love all the photos and especially the hug in the first one.

One of the best features of a real estate career is the flexibility of time. I always like fact that I am doing my shopping (especially Christmas) in the middle of the week when everyone has to brave the mall on the weekend. I am sure the flexibility comes in handy for raising a child.

Hi Loreena~ Boomer is growing up so fast! He is adorable. I love how being a Realtor and making my own schedule lets me be a grandmom!

Superman and Woody eating a snack. :-) I do love being self-employed as well. Just in case you need to be here and/or sometimes just to be here, whether you want you to be or not. Thats important also, especially as they get into the teenage years.

What adorable pictures of your son! I also love how our flexible we can be with our schedules to accommodate the raising of our kids. The balancing act is still there, but much more worth it than with the schedule of a traditional job.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your son. So cute. It's great that you have your priorities in the right order. My daughter is taller than me now. They grow up SO fast.
