gratonAfter visiting the pumpkin patch we headed north toward one of our favorite places in West County, The Bread Flour Bakery ( the aroma alone is worth the visit!)graton street hiringwalker applesUpp road

Graton, a charming village in its own right with antique shops, boutiques, and  restaurants ( try Willow-wood if you have a chance to stop and you're hungry for interesting blends of foods.)  It  also has a day labor center for workers who help produce some of our fine wines, construction work and supply some of the "hard" labor for construction and agriculture. The center provides a regulated and orderly process and translation services as needed for potential employees and employers.

A few miles outside Graton the road takes a sharp turn south and directly in front of you is one of Sonoma Countys active and surviving apples farms, Walker Apples. What a great sign!

Nearby we were amused by the below grade street sign on a road leading down into a canyon.

Stay tuned as we travel down Graton Road to Occidental - through beautiful valleys, redwood clad ridges with creeks, canyons and sun-dappled glades!

Kathleen, Sounds like a nice ride. We lived in Marin for many years and spent many weekends exploring the Sonoma and Napa valleys. We eventually moved to St Helena and now live in the Seattle area. Have you ever been to Vladimir's restaurant in Point Reyes?
