Inspired by the popular Ben Stiller films. Bring your friends on an after-hours tour of the museum as the exhibits come to life. Groups will rely on a savvy tour guide to help them successfully navigate the cast of strange characters from the Civil War soldier to the ghost of Grace Lusk. This family-friendly adventure will certainly employ artistic license, but don’t be surprised if you accidentally learn some cool facts about some colorful characters from the county’s past. Special admission $5 per person. Group rates available.

PLEASE ASK ME ABOUT MY GIVE BACK PROGRAM, WHERE I MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO AN ANIMAL SHELTER IN YOUR NAME UPON CLOSING!!!

Kristen, if you heard how this turned out I would be very interested to learn what happened!  As a former US History/Economics retiree it sounds like a neat experience, and it could be a little "spooky" around Halloween time.

Out of curiosity, who was Grace Lusk?

Thanks!

Hi Bruce,

My hubby is a history teacher :-)

Grace Lusk:On the afternoon of Thursday, June 21, 1917, Miss Grace Alberta Lusk, a 39-year-old public school teacher in Waukesha, Wisconsin, a few miles west of Milwaukee, shot and killed Mrs. Mary Newman Roberts, the 51-year-old wife of 52-year-old veterinarian David Roberts, Doctor of Veterinary Science, a wealthy man, and as would soon be reported, a serial adulterer in a time in America when sexual relations outside marriage were punishable crimes.

While the Grace Lusk murder case understandably scandalized Waukesha and environs, Heartland America if ever there was such place, in the time of the world’s Great War the act could not compete with other daily sensations, and has essentially been forgotten.

Thanks for the quick history lesson, Kristen!  No doubt your husband's expertise has rubbed off on you!!! I think your county museum is doing a really neat thing to make history interesting and available to the younger generation and to families in your area.  Well done Waukesha!

TEACHERS NEVER RETIRE; THEY CONTINUE TO EDUCATE OTHERS IN NEW WAYS!

Thanks for answering my question, Kristen!  (Don't you think your Badgers could have shown some mercy to Purdue this weekend???)
