Help the Cops Help the Kids
The 2009 Shop with a Cop program will be held at a Georgetown Department Store on Saturday, December 19th, 2009 at 7:00 AM.
This event, conducted by the Royal Springs Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police gives underprivleged kids $125.00 to spend on Christmas. The children are accompanied by local law enforcement officers as their shopping companion.
Tax Exempt Donations provide the funding for the program. Donations can be made to

"Share the Joy" , a jont community holiday effort, helps choose the children for participation in the program.
The Family and Youth Services Centers at all Scott County Schools accept applications for children to participate in the program.

This is the first i have heard of this! We were just attempting to come up with how to help the disadvantaged in our last Chamber meeting. This sounds very good for it helps establishes the community, i'm sure!
