My owner is a home inspector in San Diego.Although there are many lakes and ponds here in San Diego County -- and I think I've been to them all -- some of them don't seem to be visited much by wildlife.

I used to think that it was because of the number of people around that scared the wildlife away from some water areas.

In actuality, it seems that the more people, the more wildlife.

One place that is a joy to watch wildlife is the Chula Vista Golf Course lake. On a recent visit, I found Grandma and Granddad Duck.

Let's feature the man of the house first, since I'm sure he was the breadwinner -- LOL. ☺☺☺☺☺

Granddad Duck

With that double chin, it's obvious that this little big duck is Granddad.

Here's the little gal that was following Granddad around everywhere:

Grandma Duck

Don't you just love her little bonnet?

Have you visited with your Grandma and Granddad lately? Might be time to, and remember to take a voice recorder, ask them about their lives, and record their answers for posterity.

Hey, Suzanne - With a kitty named bevo, and seeing that your in Central Texas, I'm afraid to think that you might be partial to those texas longhorns there in austin. This Texas Aggie has an inkling to delet your comment and the name bevo from my pure Aggie post -- LOL. Not really! I can't bring my self to say H--- 'em h----," so I'll just say Gig 'em Aggies and Go Big XII.

Hey, Wanda - My grandparents also are gone, but when I went off to Texas A&M University in 1973 and some time on my hands, I started hanging around in the Computer Science Center and putting my wise old grandmother's thoughts and words onto those nasty computer cards. Hated those things. Now she is out there on the Internet at mywiseoldgrandmother.com, as well as all over my computers here in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PageMaker files.

I love the ducks, these are awesome creatures! Beautiful!

I like the tape recorder/camcorder idea. I am gonna get a little spooked though when my grandchildren start following me with a camera and asking a bunch of questions!

Russel,

What beautiful ducks! I do love Grandma's bonnet. Great pictures. And really great advice about visiting with your Grandparents if they're still around. Thanks for the reminder.

Russell I'm sure since you are from Texas you know the Boerne Texas area. As you are headed into Boerne you see Duck Crossing Signs Everywhere and traffic has to stop to let them cross. All day long they cross back and forth from the river to people front lawns.

Now that is respect, and they don't hurry themselves as traffic stacks waiting for them to cross.

Hi Russel ~ Great advice to tape or film your grandparents - and your parents for that matter. My parents have become the oldest generation - whew! life goes by fast. I so wish I had taped my gransparents. And thanks for the website address - I just took a look and need to go back - there's so much there.

I'll have to go check it out next time I'm there! My Mother lives in CV! Anything you'd like me to tell the ducks while I'm there? LOL

Hi Russel - I agree about recording family members.  I didn't get my parents on tape before they were gone.  We did sit down and interview my husband's parents and got them to tell many stories from their childhoods.  We have 2 hours on CD and have made copies for other family members.

Hi Russel what kind of ducks are those?  Not found here in Canada, I don't think.  And what's this about keycode symbols?  Guess I have to go back and check out your other posts??

You know Russel, one of my last visits with my Grandmother I asked all about her life when she was younger. Her face lit up as she was telling me some of her life stories, it was a moment I will never forget.

For some reason, I thought of my grandpa when I saw the first photo, Russel.  But the little lady brought images of Mrs. Claus to my head.  What does that say about me exactly?  Wait, don't answer that!

Russel I love you photos; those geese look so lovely.

We did record my grandma but misplaced the tape, still hoping it will show up since we won't have another chance.

I never really got to know any of my grandparents. Two died while I was very young, and the other two live on the East Coast.
