Google Maps... Now with Real Estate

Google announced real estate on Google Maps this morning...

In Google Maps type a "city state" and/or a "zip code". Just to the right of the "Search Maps" button,

Google Maps search...

click "show search options" and select real estate in the drop down...

Google Maps real estate search...

You can search homes for sale, rentals, and foreclosures. Filter your results by price range, bedrooms, and building square feet. This comes with all the usual Google Map functions like pop-up pictures with links to the listing source.

This will certainly bring a larger audience and exposure to your local real estate market...

Wow! Those folks at Google never stop coming up with new services. I'm with Rich. I'm not sure how I feel about it either.

Rich and Douglas... me either. I'm thinking about a lot of the services out there on the web that charge for this kind of service.

Hey Rene, I found this blog participating in a Scavanger Hunt!!! It is interesting to know! And your reactions...What are some of you concerns about this?

Whether this turns out to be progress or not, it can't be stopped. Ultimately the more exposure our listings get, the better opportunity to sell them.

Amy and Dan... Where's the scavanger hunt? I do have concerns about the Google Map thing and need to mull over a little before I open my big mouth. But Dan, you do make a basic good point, exposure will help.

How do you get your listing submitted to them to make sure it is included on the map, or is this part of Google base?

Todd: Not sure yet, but I was thinking that Google base might be the featured (or large marker) properties. Yet, notice it's picking up properties that syndicated using Postlets etc....

Hmm I wonder if they're doing it up here in Canada - I think I did see a 'release' article somewhere about it.....

Rene- this is going to be interesting. Especially in our area as the NWMLS is making it difficult to blog about listings etc. I wonder if the NWMLS will have objections to our listing showing up on Google Maps??
