A grandmother in her sixties has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident in a bizarre parking lot incident which has ended up on YouTube with over 1,000,000 views so far. Granny pulled into the parking lot of a fitess centre near Toronto in her BMW SUV and in a monster truck move, jumped the curb and ended on top of two parked vehicles.
After taking a moment to realize what just happened, granny backed up her BMW and exited stage left. As luck would have it a gym employee found his car with damage to the hood and windshield. Unable to fathom how this could have occurred he opted to review the security video.
Granny was BUSTED. She is off to court in December to do some 'splainin Lucy. As for the gym employee who had just finished paying off his 2004 Hyundai Elantra, there was a bright side to the story. Hyundai Canada has just presented him with a brand new vehicle to replaced his demolishion derby wreck.
As for granny, she is not making any comments to the public although her little escapade has given her her fifteen minutes of fame which I'm sure she would like to go away - very quickly.
The moral to the story - Be good - You never know who is watching you.

Great story. I'm sure Granny will be glad when this is over. You are so right in that we surely do not ever know who is watching us or photographing us so we need to always remember that.
First of all...Why was granny pulling into a parking spot going so fast. Second of all...why would she have just driven off so casually? Doesn't everyone know that you cannot get away with anything these days. Just do the right thing and it will all be good!
Way too funny Jenny! I'm usually on wary about parking near some Buick drivers, but now I think I'm going to be on the lookout for those BMW drivers as well.

Hi Jenny, This is really funny, although not to the folks involved. I'm surprised she was able to drive away like that. You'd think she would have torn up the underside of her car, and at least ripped out the oil pan. The security video isn't very sharp, but it doesn't even look like she had any damage to her car!

Al & Peg, yes, it's great PR for Hyundai. I'm sure they will get lots of mileage out of this. BMW on the other hand will get the PR but not in such a positive way I fear.
Haha very funny Gary - Buicks and Caddy's right? I think a lot of people feel safer in SUV's but they are gas guzzlers.
Hi Sylvie - You're right. I forgot to point out that she returned to the scene. I think I would have been too shaken up to drive after that but I guess we never know how we will react in certain situations.

Hi Richard - Yep, it's real. She has to show up in court so it will be interesting to see if she gets off. At least she was smart enough to put in in reverse. I'm surprised she didn't have dameage that prevented her from leaving.

Jenny, she was doing so good, and all a sudden, here it went, BAM! Her BMW didn't look like damaged at all. Maybe the motto of the story is to buy BMW instead of Hyundai! Just kidding!
Oh Mary you made me laugh. She was only 62, driving a BMW SUV and going to the gym. Maybe I painted her out to be doddery old lady. Is that a word doddery? You know what I mean anyway. No this was probably one sophisticated lady. She just used bad judgement. Maybe she was texting or on the phone???
