I find the "Tall Ships" fascinating.  I toured one in Baltimore Harbour some time ago and was amazed at how small they were.  The appeared much larger in photos, but aboard, they are small when compared to today's ships or yachts.

They are fun to tour.  What a difference a couple of hundred years make.

Rosalind, the tall ships are something special. We are very fortunate to be living near the ocean, especially up here in the northeast where ths is not an uncommon event. Where is the Lalmar Nickel really from. The name has Wilmington Delaware below it but I don't recognize the country flag. Thanks for sharing.

Ok but how were the oysters. I like ships but I love oysters. This is a great shop of this piece of nostalgia.

Lenn - Tall ships of the bygone era are really small compared to the big yachts of today but the romance of them never fades.  It's always a treat when they come to town or shall I say the harbor.

Rosalinda - Those tall ships are wonderful. We had one moored at Port Canaveral for a visit a few years back.

Rosalinda, these ships are so beautiful; always a treat to get a view of.  Thanks for giving us landlubbers from the Midwest a glance to get a glimse of the glory days of sailing gone past.

Wonderful picture Rosalinda!  When I see that ship, I think, "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me."  Looks like a great place for landlubbers and pirates to have a dandy time:-)

Myrl - Kalmar Nyckel is one of the most beautiful tall ships I have seen.  I went down to the dock twice to see it.  I can imagine pirates having a marvelous time in one of those tall ships.

What fun to have those tall ships around - a great photo opportunity for sure.  You have some colorful place names there as well... Muttontown!

Georgina - The tall ships are now part of the Oyster Festival and we look forward to it every year.  We are really lucky because I live four blocks from the Waterfront Center and with all the traffic during the festival weekend, we just walk to the festival.  Oh yes, we have some funny names of towns and streets here.
