Rainbow After The Rain In Big South Fork Tennessee

Friday was a rainy-ish day in Jamestown, Tennessee but the sun appeared late in the afternoon and with it, this rainbow stretching from one side of the horizon to the other. It hung there over the Big South Fork, with a full spectrum of brilliant colors, for moments....and then it was gone.

I hope our rain will end today so I can see a rainbow.  Tired of the view of gray skies.

Hi, Cindy. We have had a long rainy spring, summer and fall. It was really thrilling to see that rainbow the other day. Conditions must have been perfect because it was perfect. No pot of gold, though!

It's always so nice seeing a rainbow - makes you feel like nothing can go wrong. You caught it just in time too.

Hi, Suesan. Thanks for commenting. I guess rainbows are so exciting because they are so rare. This one looked like something on a Hallmark card. By the time I whipped my Blackberry out and leaped from the car to get the best picture I could, it was almost too late.

Hi, Michael. You don't get to see a rainbow very often; I guess that's what makes it so special when you do. I hate to wish a rainy day on you, but that's what it'll take to get one...LOL!

The worst thing about Rainbows is that they never last very long.  You captured one that will last forever, Nice!

Hi, Teri. I don't always have my camera but I do usually have my Blackberry and I have used its camera countless times on the spur of the moment...as I did here! Rainbows are evanescent...I was lucky to come along just at the right moment.

They never fail to amaze and to lift ones spirits!

Hi, Carol. About a week later, I saw a DOUBLE rainbow that seemed to last forever. It's always a little gift!

I live minutes from the Cumberland Trailhead into Big South Fork National Park, in Spruce Creek Acres, an equestrian community that abuts the park itself. Horses are a major part of daily life here and this is a very active, supportive horse-oriented community. It is a gift to work as a realtor here, listing horse properties and selling horse properties to horse people! We joke that I've probably done more real estate on horseback than off! If you want to "live where you love to ride," let me help you find YOUR Big South Fork horse property .
