Who is Going to buy homes in the next Generation? Scary Statistics

By

An article in today's Sunday edition of the Washington Post, Nov, 1, 2009 does not paint a pretty picture for the middle and lower classes going forward. If you are middle class or above, your chances of moving up are greater. If you are a single parent, and that group is growing, you are likely to be much poorer. The first thought that came to mind in reading this quick, easy to read, article was "who is going to be able to purchase homes in the middle class. Are we going to again be a nation of renters?" I am also a real estate investor and I know the trend is in that direction. This concerns me deeply not for my own selfishness in being able to sell homes but in the direction the country is heading. Our children and grandchildren, I fear, may not live as well as the generations born between 1946 and say the mid 70;s.

Please read the article. If nothing else, it reminded me to keep pushing my kids to excel...

The article is correct. I also tink the middle class will continue to become a smaller percentage of the population. There may be some hope if the next administration is able to reverse the boon-doggles of this one.

Tom,

Don't worry, be happy!  Obama and the Democrats are going to "fix" it.  Yeah, right.

There is a way to reverse that trend, but noone in Washington is listening.  Entitlement is creating the poor faster than ever before.
