Fall Color in Maggie Valley ... Gone With the Wind.

The amount of rain we had recently, I am told, hastened the demise of our beautiful fall leaves. We also had a little early snow at the higher elevations, with a return to warmer, milder temperatures during the past 2 weeks.

The locals tell me that the woolly worms are predicting a very cold winter this year. The 2009 Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk came and went and I wasn't able to get there, but I hope to next year.

I think you may be a week or two ahead of us, but we did lose a lot of leaves this week with the wind.

Looks very "fall" to me...I'm so jealous, but then I was hanging by the pool yesterday to keep my "fall" tan.

Oh even a brief glimpse of the fall beauty where you are is a breath of fresh air. I have never heard the wooly worm predictions. That's pretty cool.

Larry, I'm amazed at how quickly things changed here. Here today, gone tomorrow!

Karen, thank you for commenting. It's still beautiful fall weather and the leaves on the ground add their own beauty!

Okay I'm not sure who to respond to... but yes, it's still beautiful, and I am so disappointed I didn't get to the Woolly Worm Festival!
