As part of my first anniversary weekend, I took a 360-mile drive through Southern California.
We just loaded up the car with Beatles CDs, did an early morning home inspection, and took off, although I did have a specific destination in mind, which just happened to be one of America's newest national parks.
Following is just one of the pictures that I got on our drive. U2 fans amongst us might recognize it, and, indeed, it is the current U2 tour that reminded me that I hadn't been to this National Park since it became a National Park, and not since 1973 at all.
Is is Joshua Tree? (is that a National Park) or Death Valley (not sure of the National Park Status of that either). Definately the right time of year for this....not too hot.
Hey, Leslie - We did see some horseback riders out there!
Hey, Patricia - We were gone for about 15 hours, and when we got home, Zoey the Cool Cat was sick. She had never been left alone that long before, and although she had two kitty litter boxes, two water dishes, one dry food and one wet food, it was obvious when we got home that she had missed us. She was lying on the bed, did not come to the door to greet us, didn't want any food, and didn't even get up off the bed until about 8:00 this morning, when she finally ate some food. I think she might be back to normal now because she's sitting on the other desk peering out the window at the lizard that lives on our window ledge, with her tail wagging furiously.
Hey, Karen - Both Joshua Tree and Death Valley are national parks.
Hey, Rita - Does this help you:
Hey, Chris Ann - You and Karen might be on to something -- LOL.
Hey, Carl and Ceil - I thought about taking Zoey the Cool Cat but I didn't know if I would ever be leaving the car, and I sure wasn't going to leave her all by herself in a car.
Hey, Terry - Yes, I am going to tell you.
Hey, Anna - It definitely was a deserty place, although we did find an oasis, which was pretty cool, literally. Pictures coming on that, too.
Hey, Larry - Yep. Joshua Tree. From Joshua Tree National Park right here in Southern California.
Hey, Nick - Nope. Joshua Tree National Park here in Southern California.
Wow sounds like a great little getaway. Hope you had tons of fun. Really cool tree, too! I didn't know that's what a Joshua tree looked like, thanks for sharing.
Since I'm reading your blog in reverse chronological order, I already know that you were at Joshua Tree National Park. Otherwise, I would not have guessed it.

I give up! I'll have to wait for the answer because that is waaaay out of my territory. Glad you had fun!
