TV Show Did Not Sell Home

By
Real Estate Agent with TIM LORENZ - Elite Home Sales Team DRE# 00919781

A home that was featured on a TV show "Million Dollar Listing" did not cause the home to sell.  The Newport Coast home on Bravo TV with an asking price of just under $10 million did not sell.  The show featured a big fight over the difference between that price and the $8 million cash offer.  The TV show did not sell the home in Pelican Crest went to foreclosure a few weeks later.

The Realtor who made the offer was selected by the bank to list the property and sold it for $7,050,000.

There were some problems in the sale the basement filled with water and had be be repaired at he tune of over $200,000 which lead to a price drop.

The owner who lost the home called the cash offer of $8 million "ridiculous.  So what should have been a sale if the owner accepted the offer ended up a foreclosed property and the TV show did not sell the home.

Tim, we have a lot of HGTV homes in this area that were on Desgined to Sell and the other show that does interventions with unrealistic sellers.  And many of them don't sell.  You need more that a TV show feature!

I watch that show every week and have to say most of the time they make real estate look very easy.  They should show everday agents and what it really takes to keep your business afloat in this market!

Hopefully, the person that made the cash offer received the home at a discount even after repairs and is very happy.

You can lead a seller to an offer, but you can't make them sign.

Hi Tim~ These TV shows want to make the public think that they sell homes because they are on TV.  TV shows do NOT sell homes!

I like the show because the agents are tools.  The fact that it didnt sell had nothing to do with the show or the agents.  The reason it did sell is because of the price and seller.  Heath great point! Tim great post

Yes see it cannot be the TV show that likes to make real estate look easy and without any difficulty, it is we the REALTORS that make the sale work.

Tim - thanks for a factual review of what happened on a "reality" show.  Didn't see it but the agent who didn't counsel his client to take the $8 million is an idiot.

The one thing to consider with all of the shows is that they are for entertainment. We in the industry understand that but the general public do not. It should be our job to communicate the truth and I appreciate you taking the time to do that here.

This is my way of helping all of us know what really goes on out there in TV land and individuals thinking real estate sales are easy and do not take good counsel from a qualified agent.
