24 Comments on Home Owners Do you Prevent Fats and Greases from Damaging your Septic
One of my clients moved in to a home and called me the next day about a clogged drain and was mad the inspector didn't catch it. The inspector went above and beyond the call of duty drove out there to check it out and saw the bacon package and the hamburger buns on the counter and quickly told them that it was their fault and how it happened. He was able to fix it in about an hour for them though and told them never ever to dump grease in the drain again or it will happen again.

Howdy there Todd

Your clients picked a real fine home inspector. An inspector thats worth his or her grain of salt, sure should do the same. Thank you kindly, for leaving this comment story about how that fine indpector, took care of his and your client.
Dale you did a very good job of explaining this very important information regarding what you should not be putting down your drain. However, that fry pan of bacon frying sure looks good and probably taste good but not good for your health or the septic system (Ceil).

Ceil - Thank you very kindly, I sure do like my bacon. Your sure right about its not at all good for folks health or their septic systems. But that there fryen pan full of bacon, had some oil added to it. To help make more of a point of the oil folks put down their drains, all over the Counrty and the World even.
Smart, timely post with the holidays coming up Dale! Here's an alternative title: "Just 'Cuz It'll Go Down Yer Gullet Doesn't Mean You Oughta Put It Down Yer Pipes!"
I like the way Kent came up with that riddle. I always keep empty glass jars and dump the oil in the jar. Lots of folks around here put bacon drippings on their dogs to keep down flee's and ticks.
Howdy there Kent
