It was a successful weekend for many Philly sports teams...all except the one that counted the most...The Phillies in World Series game 4 against the Yankees...

After an exciting 8th inning solo home run by Pedro Felize to tie the game at 4 to 4, the Phillies only saw their hopes dashed in the top of the 9th when the Yankees took a commanding 7 to 4 lead which resulted in another Yankee victory bringing the series to a 3 to 1 Yankee lead!!!

Now, the Phils, whose MO is winning on the road and against all odds, must settle back into that role if they hold any hopes of repeating as World Champions...

It's really as simple as that...take each game as it comes, go out and play like you did in the regular season, don't lose heart or give up before the final out, and BELIEVE...!!!

In any case, thanks for some great baseball this year...It's November and my team is still playing baseball...!!!

Fran:  Your beloved Phillies have fans rooting for them all over the country.  They are either Phillies fans, or Yankee Haters.  I am, being from Cleveland, very much in favor of anyone BUT the Yankees winning the World Series... so I will be taking my Rosary with me as I watch the game, and have emailed the dear Sisters of Charity to pray for the Phillies, light candles for them, and pray their Rosaries, too.  I sincerely hope this helps.  Go Phillies !  Poop on the Yankees !

Fran, I am a lifelong Yankees fan and while I respect the fight that the Phils are putting up, I believe the proverbial fork is ready to be put in them. I think it would have been a better move to pitch Lee last night, of course hindsight is always 20/20. All in all it has been an exciting series.

Michael,

Yes, but even THE MAN CHASE is humble enough to give credit to his teammates rather than soak up all the glory for himself...!!! A true hero...!!!

Kenneth,

Without taking anything away from the Yankees, who really deserved to win and deserve to be World Champions, in my opinion the best team did not win. That's not sour grapes, it just happens to be my opinion.

Did the Yankees outplay the Phillies? No doubt about it!

Did the Phillies play up to their potential? No way!

The Phillies gave us some great baseball this year, and didn't let us, their fans, down. They let themselves down, and I think they know it.

In any event...congratulations to the Yankees, and I can't wait until Spring Training 2010...!!!

Thanks,   Fran

You are correct brother Fran, sometimes the best team doesn't win.  I think it's like that in real Estate also.  Only that, if it's my client, it could be costly.  BTW, your Archbishop, owes my Archbishop a box of Tastykakes.  According to an article in this weeks Catholic New York.

I was thinking about the 71 series when the Bucs came back from 3-1 deficit. I remember that one vividly being Clemente's big showcase... and how he started the rally by beating out a dribbler to the mound... but I think the Pirates were going back to Pittsburgh for the final 2. Hey nothing to hang your head over... it's like one little engine that could against the world! The Yanks are one big reason why I can hardly stand to watch what used to be my favorite game. They say it's good for the stock market though! Next year and you still got a pretty fresh ring. Blessings, Bob
