You should have your digital camera ready to grab at any given moment.  Shots like this one cannot be 'staged'.  They just suddenly appear and if you're ready you may be able to capture a moment to enjoy and share for years to come.

I should probably stop right here to say that "Yes, I know many of you have one piece of equipment that does multi-tasking to the Nth degree."  My best friend Paula, scoffs at me constantly for my antiquated tools.  But, they work for me.

When I go out for my morning walk or run each morning before daylight, I have my cell phone in one pocket, (Yes, I know I COULD use it to take photos.), my mini tape recorder in one pocket and my camera around my neck.

So be ready, you never know when the perfect shot will present itself.

This beautiful white egret sitting on the floating dock at the marina in my neighborhood was just waiting for me on my morning walk.  What paradise!

Marian, You have perfectly captured my favorite water fowl. Instead of blending in like other creatures, it screams out "Look at me. I'm beautiful." Thanks for making my morning just right.

I always pack a good digital camera in the center consoles on our vehicles and you are right - the prepared always get the best shots. Great photo

Marian, I know exactly what your talking about. Acouple of weeks ago I had the perfect shot of a pair of swans resting in an area where they are practically never seen, and because I didn't have the camera they can't be seen. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Marian, I agree, you never know when the right shot will be right in front of you.  I always take my camera with me, just in case.  The egret picture is lovely.

There have been so many times when I could have kicked myself for not having my digital camera "at the ready".  Your blog will serve as a reminder to me "not to leave home without it".  thanks

Great photo.  Keeping the digital camera close by is also good in case of auto accidents, new listings and once in a lifetime photos like yours. Great job.
