Toronto's Royal Winter Fair - November 6-15, Exhibition Place

Prince Charles and Camilla will officially open the Fair on Friday, November 6th.

If you want to welcome Royalty, entrance is FREE on FRIDAY ONLY between 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. (opening ceremonies)

If you are a fan of Horses and want to watch the Royal Ontario Horse Show, you can buy tickets online now, for the Saturday and Sunday shows - November 7 and 8, and November 14 and 15.

Kids and Family Fun:

If you have little ones, be sure to take them to Equimania.  Kids get to interact with horses, learn about their health, horse safety and farm safety (such as playing around with tractors, etc.).

The President's Choice SuperDogs were a huge hit with children, who loved the non-stop, high-energy show.  They are back, by popular demand.  The stars of the show - Leap, Rally, Icon, Slingshot, Flapper and Pot Roast - plus 40 other canines will return to this year's Royal to bow-WOW fair-goers with their antics and athletic feats

The Royal Winter Fair takes place every November in Toronto.

It's the largest indoor agricultural fair and international equestrian competition in the world.

Canadian and International breeders, growers and exhibitors are declared champions and thousands of people come to learn, compete, shop and have a great time.

The Royal Winter Fair is a registered, not-for-profit charity.

This Fair began on November 22nd, 1922, with 17,000 entries and over 150,000 visitors.
Now, in its 87th year, the Royal Winter Fair continues to be appreciated as the one-of-a-kind event that it is - with over 325,000 visitors expected.

Wow-you have lots going on.  What is Prince Charles' level of popularity after all that Royal Family mess of many years ago?  Do you expect a large crowd?

Wow, Sylvie, I would love this!  I think seeing the dog show (and borrowing a child to see the horses :) more then the royals but I'm sure they're ALL interesting!

Sylvie,

I don't really understand why every Royal attendance must be accompanied by a discussion of whether or not we still need the monarchy.

Nevertheless, that's a topic on the radio talk shows.

Chris, I hope you enjoy it. :)

Sharon, I never cared much for the royals (since I was born in Europe and we have plenty of them there - and they're just regular people, believe it or not) ... they are popular with some and so not much with others, but yes, we do expect a large crowd, but the crowd would come, regardless of the royals. :)

Carole, you don't have to borrow a kid.  There's lots to see and do.  I love the horses and the horse show and the dogs ... it's a great day.

Brian, I don't get it either ... but I guess it's tradition.

Silvie,  The Royals were here today.  I didn't get down to see them.  Apparantly they were disappointed.  I just can't do it all, know what I mean?

LOL Greg.  I can imagine.  I would be disappointed too.... but they go there often enough.  I'm sure they'll catch you next time. :)

Sylvie - as a teenager Barrie used to usher in the arena every year at the Royal along with other members of his Air Cadet Squadron.

Hi Sylvie - Thanks for the reminder.  I haven't been following this royal visit very carefully but it should be exciting for Camilla especially since this is her visit to the largest country, area wise, in the Commonwealth.

Sylvie,

I didn't get Greg's comment. Were they disappointed that they didn't get to see him or disappointed in St. John's? I'd be disappointed too if I didn't get to see Greg.

Kathy, I used to go all the time, as a child and even into my teens.  I loved it.  It's amazing the number of people that go every year.  You and Barrie should visit. :)

Liz, I think Rachel will like it.

Marc, I haven't been following the visit either, but there's usually a 'royal' at one of these things.  I think she's already excited enough she got him. :)

Terry, I believe the royals were disappointed they didn't get to see Greg. :)  LOL

Sylvie, I remember the first time I went to one of the evening events.  It was world class jumping.  Wow, was that exciting. I was also surprised that it was a black tie event.  Everybody was looking very swell in their long dresses and black ties!

Marcia, sometimes it's a little overboard... especially for me, since I hate dressing up. :)
Most, people, however, look forward to this.  It's very popular.
