Winter's Coming Door #1 Snow & Ice or Door #2 Sunshine & Warm

Living in the desert, we're always grateful this time of year, knowing it's getting cold in other parts of the country. Of course, it's always an abrupt awakening when we realize what "cold" really means to those of you outside of the Southwest. It's easy to forget, you see, living in a climate where frigid means the mercury has started dipping beneath 50 overnight.  You choose! Winter's Coming Door #1 Snow & Ice  or Door #2 Sunshine & Warm

Yesterday, my sister-in-law in Denver e-mailed these pictures to me. This was how their family spent Halloween! I have to admit my Minnesota blood has thinned, because I can barely even remember snow like this, let alone in OCTOBER!

So let me ask you a question. Honestly - where would you rather be right now? Knee deep in the snow, like my in-laws in Denver?

November in the Phoenix Metro area

Or biking in shirt sleeves like my Moon Valley neighbors?

Winter's coming. You know it is. You can run and buy a heavy parka ... but you cannot escape the plowing, scraping, salting, shoveling ... unless you finally commit to that winter home in a warm climate. Say, like the one in Phoenix?!

Just so you can see that I am NOT making this up, here's the screen shot for Phoenix for today (with the week's forecast) from WeatherUnderground.com.

If the cold weather hasn't quite hit you yet, you KNOW it's coming! Isn't now the perfect time to consider that second home here in warm, sunny, temperate Phoenix? You let me know. In the meantime, my husband and I will continue to enjoy our evening glass of wine, watching the sun set from the comfort of patio.

Ms Anna Banana! I'd have to go for what's behind door #2 with your Moon Valley neighbors...I am sure the food is better behind door #1 though...nothing like winter food...

Hey Jane - winter food?  What the heck is winter food?  Stews and soups?  Grilling works real nice for winter food here!

Janet - Ok you've got door number 1. Brrrrrrrrrrr

Vickie - haha - that's a good one. I wonder how many doors we'll end up with.

Hi Anna. I like both. Lately in Tampa Bay it has been about 86 degrees but I wouldn't mind spending some time in the snow :-) ~ Lana

Hi Lana - agreed.  "Some time" in the snow is fun - like for skiing!  And then go home to the warmth!

Anna--Your weather looks inviting to MN snowbirds. Glad we got the Denver weather as rain...our two or three early snowfalls were enough for me for right now...No more til Dec please! Would love a bit more of your sunshine. (My college bound teen nixed ASU...we were hoping but he wants to ski while in college...I wanted to visit him somewhere warm!)
