Alum Springs Park . . . what is an Alum Springs Park?
Truthfully, I have lived in the City of Fredericksburg for about fifteen years and I have never visited Alum Springs Park. The other day my daughter Dawn DeGroff took two of her children to visit it. Her oldest son, Brad, had been there with his sixth grade class and loved it. This time she took her youngest son Ben to visit the park. He too loved it as you can tell by this picture.
Not to be outdone, Dawn's oldest daughter (and a recent James Monroe High School graduate) went along for the day trip. Out of kindness we will not show you the results of her stream crossing!
Alum Springs Park, as the name implies, is centered around the spring fed stream that flows through (virtually) the center of historic Fredericksburg Virginia. There are many opportunities for visitors to cross the stream, take some great pictures, explore the aquatic creatures, keep cool on warm summer days, and explore the caves found in the park.
Dawn tried to keep some of these photos for her own blog ( http://activerain.com/dawninfredericksburg ) but seniority won out (again).
Here are some other pictures taken in Alum Springs Park. Just think, people who are looking for a home for sale in Fredericksburg Virginia never realize the true beauty of this great park.
