October Traffic Numbers By City On Zillow

Here are Zillow's local traffic numbers for the month of October. The numbers are down a little this month from our highs in July and August, but this is to be expected as we near the end of the year.

You can also find more traffic information directly on Zillow. If you go to any property on the site, click on Home Info in the left hand column, and scroll to the bottom of the page, you'll see that we publish a running traffic count for the home, zip, county, and state for the month.

Also, if you've created a free account on Zillow, we now send periodic traffic updates via email for your specific listings.

Sharon - I have no idea what he is talking about? I used Scribd to upload such a large spreadsheet. Maybe that is doing something to John's computer? But I've never had a problem with it, it doesn't make you download anything to see the information in the post.

Now comes the challenge of how to use this info. Vegas showed some good gains in July and August in year-over-year, but the last two months have been much slower.

That's is very useful and very revealing. I notice how the recent trend is few searches. I would guess that something to do with the $8000 first time home buyer credit expiring soon as well as seasonality. I do notice that searches are up year over year. Clear sign we've been seeing a recovery in real estate.

Hey all - One reason we post these numbers every month is to simply try to be transparent about what is going on with the site. Its like when someone says the housing market is up 8%, and you think, well in my market it's x%. Zillow, and other large real estate sites, often report on our overall number. Knowing how these sites perform locally can help you know how to best spend your resources and time.

Oh, and if you haven't already, make sure you set up your free profile on Zillow (using the same email address as whoever is syndicating your listings on your behalf). Then you'll start receiving traffic emails on how your specific listings are performing. This is something we just recently started doing.

Amy - The new system started yesterday, however leads cost $0, just to get everyone comfortable with it. 12/9 is the date the system turns over for Lenders.

Well, you need to contact the anti-virus companies since when clicking on your post (and no others) it still warns about adware/spyware and recommends blocking content. I am going to play it safe, sorry. Will let the rest risk it if they feel confident they are protected by the programs they use.

Caution is always a good idea when it comes to computer stuff. But I've used Scribd for ages and I've never had any problem. I use it to embed docs into my blog all the time and it works great and doesn't cause viruses. I'd guess that your virus settings in Windows are set very high which is why you're getting a warning even though there's not a real reason for concern. Anyway, if you ever want to see a doc that Sara (or I) have embedded using Scribd, feel free to email either of us and we'll just send it to you in excel or pdf. That also goes for anyone else of course.

Sorry, my settings are within the normal range and have never been set off except on your blog. So if you are unwilling to modify, then I will just stop viewing your posts.
