The Atascocita Presbyterian Church Mission Marketplace is always a well-attended event that benefits the artisans and participating organizations. Mission Marketplace is "shopping for a purpose."
Some of the wares available for purchase include beautiful jewelry made by Ugandan women. Ten Thousand Villages has nativity scenes & Christmas items. RADA will be showing its cutlery & HAAM has etched glass. M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Children's Art Project features greeting cards designed by their patients. And Including Kids, Inc, from our area, is also represented with their greeting cards. Heifer International gives you the opportunity to purchase an animal for needy ranchers. CROP Walk Against Hunger features trail mix from the APC Youth. The APC Knitters support goes to those in need of warm blankets, hats & more. Equal Exchange has organic coffee & tea. And the Pajama Program furnishes pajamas for needy kids around the world.
On Saturday, there is a hot dog lunch. On Sunday, the Atascocita Men's Chili Cook-off is HUGE. As is the bragging rights for the most delicious chili. Consumers get to vote on the entries from the nine chili cooks. And a group of judges make an official declaration on the winner. All proceeds from this yummy event go to Houston Habitat for Humanity.
So, come on out! The Atascocita Presbyterian Mission Marketplace is the type of shopping excursion that you'll have a great time at - while helping others too! There isn't a better feeling at the end of the day.
