WORDLESS WEDNESDAY IN VICTORIA's CHINATOWN

A Day off...we went Shopping in Victoria's Chinatown, which produced many great Opportunities for a Great Photo. Just like the Display in this Store Window.

Victoria's China Town is the Oldest in Canada.
The first Chinese immigrants came to Victoria in 1858 because of the gold rush.

Wonderful looking vases Fred.

A number of years ago (mid 1990s), my son and I traveled to Victoria.  I literally walked my legs sore exploring that wonderful place.  I remember especially stepping into a Chinese herb shop on Fisgard Street.  It was an amazing site and experience, to watch the doctor visiting with patients, and prescribing various herbs in jars and wooden drawers, which were packaged up in little paper packets.  I wish I had photographed that part of the visit. . .Alas, I didn't!

Fred - How many China Towns do you have in Victoria.  We have at least two key China Towns in Toronto.

Fred - an older "China Town" is a fascinating place to visit ... in our multi cultural society we usually do not have to travel far to enjoy the sights and sounds of the world
