Hello Kay, I never saw these growing up in this neighborhood as well.  When researching this, Wikipedia says this mushroom has become quite Cosmopolitan, and is even in South America now!  Thanks.  John

Hi John & Kathryn!  Awesome looking mushrooms among the fall leaves.  I would agree with you and everyone else -- I'm not sure about them, I wouldn't dare eat them!! Still, they are beautiful.
