Need a Lift?

"Need a Lift?" is a reblog of inspirational posts found here on AR.  I just recirculate them to spread the good stuff.

We all know what paying it forward means, but, do you really do it?

I was in the post office this morning and the line was long. I was looking out the window and saw this older woman with a walker trying to cross the street at the light no less.

So, after 10 minutes, I got what I needed and left. As I walked out the front door, that older woman was STILL trying to cross the street. No one allowed her to go. I was so livid!!

I approached her and told her I'll get her across the street. So, when the light turned read I stood in the middle of the street like a crossing guard and she was able to cross. You wouldn't believe the amount of car horns that were sounding off and some of those people flipped me off. Oh well, deal with it people!

That woman was thankful and she kissed me on the cheek which almost made me cry. She reminded me of my grandmother. She passed away 32 years ago and we were close. Every older woman I see, I see my Grandmother. Our birthdays were 3 days apart and I still miss her. I would give anything to have her in my life now.

That woman is someone's Grandma, Mother, Sister and friend. And maybe a cousin. Would't you want that special person in your life to be helped if they needed it?

We can't turn our backs on people and just think it will be ok. Who knows how long she would have had to stay there and I couldn't bear that thought. I didn't feel like it was going out of my way. I helped her because I wanted to.

So, try to help at least one person a day. It will make the place where you live better, and hopefully will make the world a better place. It will make you feel good about yourself as well!

Hey Mike...good for you, and thank you for helping that lady.  I also try to help if I see someone in need.  I wrote a blog about a lady in our office who helped a man that seemed to need it.  I'm including a link to that blog if you're interested in reading it.  This is Kathys Story.

Nick,

Good story about Kathy.  If you had made it a public post and allowed reblogs, I would reblog it under the "Need a Lift" reblogs of inspirational stories.

Glad you posted it.  It doesn't take much to make a memorable difference in someone's life.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to share.  Sure beats a "Good post" generic comment.
