I posted this as wordless Wednesday but just decided that I need to share some of the background of the photo. I am in the mountains of Wyoming building a house for my Mom. I am usually working all alone - but today as I worked on one of the windows I noticed a friend, the little squirrel, busy building his own home. He was making trips to gather his construction materials and disappearing in a pile of my material. Every few minutes he would stop and watch me an (but no scolding) and then he would get back to work. So we spent the afternoon working and watching each other.
Thanks for the explantion. I thought you had snow in NV!?! He sure is cute and it sounds like you both enjoyed eachothers company as you both worked to build houses.
Yvette & Dennis, It was a great afternoon. And it was actually pretty warm -- mid 50s. Not quite as nice as Las Vegas, though.
Michael, I'm glad that it isn't a contest because I know that he would win. He also has the advantage that I have one pile of material that won't be touched until late next spring. There is no way that I would disturb his home.
Ann, It was just perfect because each tip back he would pause about 12 feet from me then proceed slowly to the materials stacked against the house. Shortly after, he would come out and dash back into the forest. It almost looked like he was not even touching the ground or snow.
Richard, He (or she) is smart. The beginning of the summer, I would get scolded, but after finding out that I was friendly, no more scolding. I've watched him in the trees and around an old stack of wood. Today was a surprise to find him right in my work area. I built the house and the roof hangs over the one side of the house an extra five feet to cover future balconies. That keeps the are next to the house clear and I piled some of the PVC and iron that I would be using later in that area so it wouldn't get buried with snow. This little guy must have decided that it was a perfect place to live.
Gary that is a wonderful shot. He would brighten my day also. I once saw one digging in the snow I was so fascinated as to what he was doing I just stood there and watched for a long time.
Jennifer, Thanks for stopping by. Getting close and watching the wildlife has been a very fun part of building this home for my Mom. Sometimes I really get distracted by the various birds and animals. I also watch some of them for a very long time.
Matt, You are right not near as much snow in Las Vegas. Although the last two days have been bright and sunny in Wyoming. You also never know where my photos will come from. This week i will blog about a fantastic Mexican cafe in Las Vegas and about somewhere in Latin America -- haven't made up my mind on that one yet.
Michael, Thank you. I'll probably have a lot more shots of snow this winter. I also bet the little guy in the photos has tucked away a lot of "groceries" for the winter.
Gary - I for one am glad you explained the snow ... We have had only two little flurries here so far and we live in the land that some of your friends and neighbours might think is covereed in snow year round.
Kathy, I'm glad that you stopped by. Las Vegas doesn't get much snow. In 20 years there, I've only seen about a dozen snow flurries. Last year I was out of town and there was one big storm. In the mountains at my Mom's it is different. Four or five flurries and one storm with about a foot and one half already this year.
