My owner is a marketing & business consultant in San Diego. In perusing ActiveRain's 6,037 groups during the past few weeks and creating my Top 101 list, I found out that we could not only edit the group information, look at the group members, send a mass email to the group emails, and change the group logo, but we can also change the name of the group, and that's exactly what I did with the Groups that I have started.

I have already done a blog post about ActiveRain being the greatest real estate library on the Internet, and I think I have come to the conclusion now that the 6,037 Groups are ActiveRain's version of television channels, so here are the old names and the new names, just in case you can't find the old name on your list of groups now:

  1. ActiveRain Nature StationThe Inspired by Nature group is now the ActiveRain Nature Station—Anything nature. Fauna. Flora. Stars. Clouds. Sunsets. Poop.
  2. The Classical Music — ♫♪♪♫♫♪ — group is now the ActiveRain Symphony Station—Let's keep the arts alive by posting your local arts events here.
  3. ActiveRain Library StationThe ActiveRain Book Club is now the ActiveRain Library Station—Want to read a good book? Want to write a review of a book to share with others? Check out the Library.
  4. The Guerrilla Marketing Tactics group is now the ActiveRain Guerrilla Marketing Station—Tips, tricks, ideas, and suggestions for doing marketing without spending an arm and a leg.
  5. The Out and About group is now the ActiveRain Travel Station—If you have pictures and stories to share about your travels, share them here.
  6. ActiveRain Convention StationThe 2009 NAR San Diego Convention group is now the ActiveRain Convention Station—This makes the group still relevant after the NAR 2009 Convention is over since you can post tips and tricks for making attendance and participation in conventions, and home and garden shows, here. A great place to post information about smaller regional seminars as well.
  7. ActiveRain History StationI started a new group called the ActiveRain History Station—I found a Local History group, but I wanted something that could also encompass county history, state history, national history, world history, religious history, natural history, biographies, and any other type of history. This is it.

Russel,

Now I am confused.. Do I need to go join the new names of the groups?  Channel.... there is something on the drop down menu about channels.. so will your groups now show up as a Channel choice when we first post the article?

Thanks for keeping us up to speed on the new changes!

I would guess for those who are already members the name change is transparent??

Hey, Carra - I had thought about the apparent conflict between my television channels and the ActiveRain channels. They are not the same but since you have already brought it up, I changed "channels" to "stations." You don't have to do anything except look for the new group names under the A's in your group list instead of where they used to be.

Hey, Bob & Carolin - Yes, the name is transparent. That was one thing that I checked on before deciding to go ahead with the name changes.

Hi,Russel. I just changed agencies the other day and have been overwhelmed with the tsunami of paperwork so I'm just starting to catch back up with Active Rain. Lots of energy and lots of ideas at Tennessee Recreational Properties, so I just joined your guerilla marketing group. Thanks!
