Since when is it okay to resort to calling women "ugly" because you don't agree with them?  Have we not come farther than this?  Is a woman's worth still foremost determined by her attractiveness to men?  Do we not have more to offer?

Are we going to make fun of Rosa Parks for not looking like Halle Berry when she had the nerve and the courage to remain sitting on that bus and fired up an entire movement?  Are we going to discuss Harriet Tubman not looking like Cindy Crawford when she led countless numbers of slaves to freedom?  Are we going to forget the burden placed on Gloria Steinem for being the "pretty feminist" when it was determined feminists (women expecting to be treated as equal human beings) were just ugly and bitter because they couldn't get a man?

This misogyny is disgusting to me and, in my opinion, disrespectful to all women who have fought for a woman's right to be treated as an equal to a man.  Women and men participating in this, shame on you.

Chris, when one has nothing to offer to the conversation, they resort to name calling.  Unfortunately, it is usally the women who bear the brunt of their frustrations.  Its always about degrading womanhood, and its almost always men who do the degrading, although I'm familiar with a few women, who apparently have such a low perception of themselves, they too join in the "fun."  We all know that belittling another human being can be as powerful as taking a drug!  Or so I've heard.

I stumbled onto a conservative radio talk show the other day (and didn't stay there long).  They were discussing women in pant suits.  They chortled and guffawed that pant suits weren't in the Bible.  It didn't take me long to turn that crap off.  It is an example of disrespect for women, and especially women who are attempting to compete to put themselves on equal footing in the business place.  No human being should be called ugly or ignorant, but when used on women it seems all the more hateful.  Women are normally thought to be beautiful and smart.  Let's keep that mindset.  There are other words being used out there that directly target women:  Bimbo, Tramp, Tart, Slut.  Enough!

Hi Terry - It shocks me more when it's the women doing it, as I feel like we should all know better.  I do understand they must have very low self esteem to participate, and that's sad, however it's not an excuse.

Hi Dan - I like the way you think, "Women are normally thought to be beautiful and smart. Let's keep that mindset." Thank you!
