There's no question that you have to stay vigilant when you're on the web. This is the 2nd Facebook scam that's come to my inbox in the last week. Remember to NEVER click on a link in an email telling you that you need to log in to upgrade or change something. They're only looking to steal your log in credentials.

Facebook Scam

Notice how they attempt to make the email look legitimate by making the email look like it comes from a Facebook account.  They also add in a physical location at the bottom of the email as well.  Scammers are very good at making their emails look like they have come from the real company.  Don't Be Fooled!

Some people have way too much time on their hands.  With anything online we have to be so vigilent any more.

I went into an AR member's FB page the other day and dlicked on one of the tabs at the top, and was shocked to see naked people (outright porn) and foul language.  I emailed him and asked if he was aware it was there.  He was MORITIFIED!  He had no idea they were being streamed in through an application.  He removed it immediately, but is not wondering how many of his 1,400 FB friends and clients saw it.  A good reminder to always check what FB is pulling into your profile.

Wow Lina - what a horrible thing to happen.  If you can find out what application it was so we can spread the word, that would be great.

Hi Deb - I rarely click on links, even if they're from friends. If it's really important, people have other ways to contact me directly. Good reminder that we need to be vigilant when we participate in social media.

One reason scammer try to get access to your Facebook account is to then try to ask your friends for money.  Here's a report from NPR a Facebook money scam.
